Werner Training!!!!
Question:
Go to Werner on Friday Dec 5, for orientation can anyone tell me what to expect, and how long will I really have to wait for a trainer. Will I have to do any driving, are any unexpected things before getting will a trainer.

Answer:
Sure can.. You don't have to put up with a stupid trainer and You have to remember you are still a people.
If you have a personality conflict or you feel the trainer is not teaching you the right way than ask for a different trainer.( demand it) YOU should do it if you expect to stay in the business .Your trainer should da== ed near walk on water.Safety should be his #1 concern.
Too many of Werners trainers are not experienced enough to train. Some do with about 6 months driving experience and that is a newbie training a newbie. If your trainer doesn't have at least 5 yrs trucking experience I would be very wary.
They want the miles the 2 of you run and That sucks. I was a trainer for a different company. I have heard some real scary stories. I had one stop in the middle of the interstate and go to sleep accross the steering wheel. TRUE..
Remember,,, its not your job alone to do the lumping or laundry for the both of you.
If he uses his fingers to guide you in backing. Just put the brakes on and sit. The whole arm only.
Good luck to you and welcome to the industry""

Answer:
Oh YEA When you go to orientation take a note book and take notes. Pay attention to every thing the instructer says and MAKE NOTES. Listen to all the questions that are asked and yours will probably be too. But Ask if you need to know.
At the end of the day read every thing they gave you.
The drivers manual is the bible.
Pay for your own food and keep receipts for everything.. . Taxes you know.
Keep your personal hygene up and do your laundry before getting on a truck.
How long you will wait for a truck is dependant on how many in your class and how many trainers available. Impossible to tell till the end of your orientation.
As far as driving, I would think you would. Just to show that you can handle the truck. You may have take a 10 or 15 mile TEST drive and you will probably have to back one up .Good Luck

Answer:
Just relax, stay focused and pay attention. Remember, Werner's seen hundreds (thousands) of drivers coming through. They know what to expect from you and what limitations or problems you may be having -- most students have something less than a perfect truck school experience.
All this is new to YOU, not Werner. Go with the flow as much as possible and don't sweat the small stuff. You objective is to complete the program and get assigned your own truck, Avoid getting derailed in personality fights with your trainer(s), etc. Driving and training is inherently stressful for everyone involved. Stay cool, and stay safe. You'll do fine -- EVERYONE does fine -- if you stay focused on your goal.
