I was in detroit about a week ago on my campany drop lot which also shares part of the lot wit werner and the trucking school i attended. anyway i was parked by the fence near the trucking school and this guy walks over after his back turn was over and ask me how much fun i have driving and is it as much fun as he thinks it will be. i was shocked by this question because i don't really view driving as fun i enjoy the fact i don't have to be in the same place for to long. anyway i told him it gonna be fun for the 1st day he out and driving on his on then he has to adjust to the bordem and the long miles and sittin in the jump seat for 4 or 5 hours. and i told him if has any kids at home he'll have to adjust to being away from them for 14 to 17 days a month. after i answer his question he still wasn't convince that driving isn't as fun as he expects. so i told him good luck and hopes he has the fun he thinks he gonna have. he also mention he been prehired by werner so hes gotta do atleast 3weeks wit a trainer b4 he gets his solo status. i did werners trainning program i bet he want think it's so fun after 3 days of that. i sure remember it what a nightmare until the end.

Would you quit telling stories to people. Tell them the truth. Trucking is a blast. Always going new places. Seeing the sites and enjoying great food. Not to leave out the fun and thrills of commanding your own big rig down the road.

well i didn't mean to make it sound horrible but it anit all fun. this guy thought he was gonna get some time in vegas and see hoover dam maybe take the tour his thought on what kinda time he would to do the things he was hoping to do didn't seem realistic.

I hope you don't think I was doing anything except joking. I wasn't. Lots of newbies think it'll be all fun on the road. They learn quickly it isn't and most quit.

Never had this much fun doing any other job in my life. The last 10 years have all been fun. I do get a little borded listening to drivers complain about all the different things they hate. I just wish they would quit.
I 40 accross the desert. Tons of fun. Nothing like pulling in to a almost deserted truck stop and killing a little time walking in the desert. One would be supprised all the neat things to do out here.
Laid over in Miami? Go deep sea fishing. Only costs 25 bucks for the night. and they have truck parking. Thats fun. Stuck in any major town for the weekend? Call enterprise. They will pick you up. Rent a car for 30 bucks and have a day on the town. Try checking out the historical sites.
Like antiquing? Most large flea markets let trucks park. Are you a gambler? Most casinos have truck parking. Hey, if you are ever in St Louis and have time to kill. Park at the Casino queen truck stop in Illinois. Have the security person drop you off at the METRO LINK. It is right there. Pay 1.25 and ride over the river. The first top. The Gateway Arch and Historical center. Has a free Museum. then you can just keep going, they have malls, union station, Bush stadium, other museams, you get the point. 2.50 you can ride that train to the heart of the city and back after you walk.
This job is only fun if you have a want to do things. The truck will bore you quick. The thing will not talk to you. The truck and trucking are not the entertainment. The places you go and the people you have the chance to meet are.202 N Main Street
