No pleasing some people
Question:
Talked to a fairly new driver this afternoon who was kind of depressed. He switched jobs 4 weeks ago after nearly starving to death on 1100 - 1800 miles a week , sit at home wait to be called in had to drive 1 hour to get the truck could not stop at the house even if you delivered across the street type of rules.. He landed a decent run 600 miles round trip , home Friday afternoon leaves Monday morning parks the truck 1 block from his house , can stop in when hes going by. His new boss gave him a nice clean well maintained 2001 Mack , fridge , microwave , Cellphone , top of the line CB ECTE new tires you name this truck is mint + full benefit plan.. His wife is bellyaching that she feels he not making any $, he grossed $1,110.00 last week on his old job said he was lucky to gross $600.00 / week last 2 months he was there. I told him there are alot of new drivers who would love the deal he has. Answer: My 1st wife thought that $1000 a week gross was not nearly enough considering the sacrifices drivers must make by not being home much and having to work over 70 hours a week to do it. At the time I thought she was nuts. Now I know she is absolutely right... Answer: $1100 and she's complaining? Sheesh........ Answer: HIGHWAY MAN read the post before WHINING about the SACRAFICES that have to be made. This guy basically runs Monday to Friday home on the weekend and Wednesday night. Runs right past his house and can stop if he wants ( THIS IS THE KIND OF RUN MOST DREAM ABOUT ) Answer: There is no pleasing some people, had a new driver who was paid $100.00 / day for 5 days orientation ( on top of all meals< anything they wanted > , hotel , phone calls and transportation to and from customers plant ) Then paid an additional $500.00 for his second week ( about 2 1/2 days )+ any miles ( $200.00 ) he ran getting new truck ( 2004 T600 )setup ecte. Started out 1st day with full benefits. He started out on a Monday ran 2800 miles by Friday grossed $1,120.00 + $200.00 for drop / hooks, walks in on Monday morning and quits, his wife felt he was away too much. He has gone to work as a standby driver for a tanker hauler who has 20 trucks and about 40 part time / standby drivers for $0.33 / mile no benefits.
