Leaving For FFE Friday
Question:
Well guys, I have to make the long trip down to Fordyce, AK to Timberland Tech. School starts on Dec. 1 and ends either on Dec. 22 or Jan. 5 2004 depend on how well I do. For the drive I was offered a bus ticket but, decline it. I feel a rental car down is the best way to go even if I have to pay for it out of my pocket and will have to be back in Greensburg on Jan. 16. If you guys have ever been bus you know it is no picnic. With the route i'm going to be taking, I plan to drive the 18 to 19 hours straight. I know I should stop off for the night somewhere in Bowling Green, KY but, there is a 8pm orientation on Saturday night at Timberland tech for FFE student drivers. So basically I have no choice if I want to have a decent Thanksgiving but, to drive the 1100 miles in 19 straight hours. Route planed is this. Pittsburgh to Columbus OH Columbus OH to Cincinnati OH Cincinnati OH to Louisville KY Louisville KY to Bowling Green KY Bowling Green KY to Nashville TN Nashville TN to Memphis TN Memphis TN to Little Rock AK Little Rock AK to Fordyce AK Thanks Guys for all the help, Wish me luck Hey, if life throws you a curve ball, try and take a swing at it. Who knows what might happen Answer: And thanks to Verizon wireless internet the laptop will be with me all through school and will keep post you posted. Hey, if life throws you a curve ball, try and take a swing at it. Who knows what might happen Answer: I am so excited for you. I am happy you've made your decision on who to go with. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and hope you keep your excitement going on. Besure and let us know how things go. I really would like to see how things go for you. Much luck..though I do know you are going to do just GREAT! Have a good safe trip. Answer: Just thought you would like to know that in 1994, I had to go on an interview to Fayetteville, Arkansas from Rhode Island.. I got the job. But, the airfare was almost too much, as I used "AK" for Arkansas. You'll find yourself getting to Alaska if you keep using "AK". I wish you the best of fun. Just remember, in AR, if you get divorced, your ex-wife is still going to be your sister. Who knows what might happen Answer: I was wondering where they told you your orientation would be after graduating from school? Are you going to travel down here to Lancaster, TX? Or, does FFE have another location for orientation other than Lancaster? I hope they are going to let you go home first and catch your breath before starting OJT with your trainer. Good luck on the training and, especially, the CDL driving test. I bet you ace it. Drive safely on your way to AK. LOL. Answer: Orientation, after school is only held at Lancaster, TX from what the HR Manager that I talked to told me. FFE does have a terminal in New Jersey but, they are straight warehouse and maintance. I wish I would have the option to do it at New Jersey. Chetjester, I will be home for a week after school, whenever I finish. I forgot to mention how the school how the classes work. Get this, They go for 21 days of teaching straight even weekends. Their is no max on days you can be there, as long as you are trying, they will keep you as long as needed. If I do run over the 21 days in December, Timberland Tech and FFE will allow me to go home from Dec. 23 to the 26 to be with my family for Christmas. I am very happy there is a 2:1 ratio (2 students to 1 instructor in the truck) for the road instruction, which means I will get a sh*t load of drive time. Although the downside is class does start at 5 am everyday and there is no promise when class will be over, so I could be done one day at 3pm or somedays 8pm. Oh and I get to share my room with another student but, hey its free. Oh ya I will try to stay safe on the road for the 19 to 20 hours to Arkansa (AKA AK or Alaska LOL) in a Chevy Silverado Rental truck. I will try to log on the net via Verizons express network when I reach rest stops or stop to eat. I can't promise if verzion will have service at some points. Guys, if you see a black Chevrolet Silverado with Pennsylvania plates and a Enterprise sticker on the tailgate in any of the states I listed above, give me a hollar in some way and I'll try to do the same. Happy Dweller Society - Canadian Division Well I would have taken the trip with a fellow FFE driver, but FFE does not allow that. And no way in hell will I ride a bus for 20+ hours, been there done that. Hey, if life throws you a curve ball, try and take a swing at it.
