Finally On With WSE
Question:
Well, I finished my 4 1/2 weeks of straight back, 90 back, road test, road test, road test and everything else that comes with getting a CDL. I went to Elm Springs, Ar and spent 3 days in orientation. It was rather long and well to a point boring, but I know it is worth it and much needed. I mean I had no idea on how to run qualcomms or reefers and so on.
I got assigned my trainer for the next 4 weeks and we head out towards Oregon on friday. I asked for a female trainer, well because I am female. I got assigned a male trainer. I will have to deal with it, thank goodness I get along with men just fine. I understand one simple thing, keep my mouth shut, listen, and voice a opinion but only when needed. Which will not be that hard for me to do since the trainer does know a heck of a lot more then I do. I'm going to be in tight quarters and I hope he has a heck of a sense of humor because I need to laugh on a daily basis.

With a name like "sweet-whiskey", I don't think you'll have any problems.

Now if only the rest of the women-folk could comprehend that!

Ummmmm...I see that you are very NEW to the ways of the OTR industry.

Well, I only received that handle after my instructor insisted I take it. I tell you what I had a classroom of all males and I was soo glad when they took me under their wings (so to speak). I deserve and hope while I am out on the road that I receive the same respect that I give back. Yet, I know that I will run into a "Heman, woman hater" I suppose I'll just have to show them that I can do it just the same. BTW, I don't know if I'll keep that handle but for some odd reason it fits me.

Answer:
I called my fleet manager today and was told that I will not be leaving till Sunday. I just want to get in the truck, the anticipation is killing me. I can handle hanging out at loading docks and so on, but I just want to drive. I know one thing, driving a truck comes pretty natural to me. I have always wanted to drive a truck and at 27 I made it happen. Since I don't have no kids, no man (shucks) and the fact that I love to drive it just fits right in to the whole picture.
I suppose I should go and let my puggy pup out. BTW, one thing that does make me upset is that WSE doesn't have a pet policy. I suppose I can live without my puggy.
Till next time,
