Roehl
Question:
Well fellas I had my interview with Gordy at Roehl in Marshfield today. I am slotted for the Dec 1 class. Now I have to reassure the wife that this is a good thing as far as I can see. See in that I'm not working since I got axed from the railroad. I can get by for a couple months until I get a check rollin back in. So if anyone out there has some tips on what to bring to the school or what ever I appreciate it. And anyone going from near Fond du Lac I'd be willing to carpool. Thanks to Buzz and IBStrollin and the other Roehl drivers out here that have helped me out up to this point. Answer: Do a search on post's started by me. I made a list of what I brought with me for orientation. Your experience as a jarhead will be helpful in packing it all up. Somethings that I did not have on that list. Dry erase markers. Great for marking your route in a laminated atlas. Also great to write down directions and notes on the windshield. Just wipe them off and you have a clean "chalk board". I wish I had brought my digital camera with me back in training. There are a million and one things that this can be usefull for. Also pack for the weather. If you are going to go Flatbed, pick up some carharts. Also pack some thermal underwear. Anything on your list that turned out to be superfluous? Answer: Definately bring a towel and wash cloth. The showers at the terminals do not have them. That list and the things that other mentioned in that thread pretty much covered what you will need. For those that are going to Roehl. When you start phase 2 if they still have it that way when you go through. It is a good idea if one of you pick up a CB. There are customers where you will need one to check in. Another great thing to pick up when you go out on your own or in phase 2 is a 12v cooler. You can pick one up at Marshfield at the WalMart. Dont worry about this while you are out with a trainer, they will more then likely have one in their truck. DRIVER BY CHOICE Buzzdog Answer: Should add this also. I HIGHLY recommend getting a Zebra fine point pen. I like the f-402 myself. You can get refill's for it. You will be amazed at the difference a good fine point pen will do for the neatness of your logs. I also use a small metal ruler. I picked this up at Wal-Mart. It has a cork back on it so it does not slide around doing the book. I never liked the cheap plastic rulers you get at orientation. DRIVER BY CHOICE Buzzdog Answer: I did Roehl's school in January and ound it to be well worthwhile. As far as what to take its pretty simple..Just take the stuff youl'd usually take on a 4 week trip away from home. An definatly take some warm outdoor clothing, a pair of work gloves, and a flashlight. Marshfield gets darn cold and dark by late afternoon in the winter. As the past becomes the future unfolds Answer: A guy from Mt Horeb was told he's going to that class also. Also pay close attention in orientation on how to change a fuel filter. And if you get a tractor with the Fleetguard filter, buy the wrench for 8 bucks! You'll be glad you did. They're pretty thourough at school and orientation, Claude does a good job. Good luck! Better to have it and not need it as need it and not have it!Just remember:If the world did'nt suck, you'd fall off! The more I see and read about Republicans and Democrats, the more I wish we had an Independent Party. IMPEACH BUSH!!!!!!!!!! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
