Hey guys I am back till tomorrow at 2pm.
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. I really do appreciate them.
CD thanks for the sex change back to my usual and regular girlie self..;
West..please keep your snow for another week. I need to get more proficent on my downshifting. All though it is really happening!! The key dont think just DO!
Everyone-- I had a really bad time of things wednesday. It was raining pretty bad here and there was oodles of traffic. And of course the windshield wipers left a smear each upward swing in my line of sight. This was after my trainer had looked at me across the table at supper and said "Your not thinking about giving up on me are you?" I was..seriously thinking about it. Not because I can't do this. Because I was/am kinda afraid of hurting someone,remember this was only 4th day with the trainer, after only having school training. We talked at dinner and I decided to try and drive some more. Made it another hour and asked him if there was someplace we could switch. We switched..I cried just a little...and come to find out we switched at the exit we were getting off anyways, and the weather and roads got better.
Well the next day was my b-day and it was KILLER!!!!!! Everything clicked into place, most times. Even the stopping on an upgrade of a mountain cause I lost gears downshifting did not cause alot of undue grief..for me anyways. My trainer I dont think was clutching anything for dear life. Lots of small little towns with stop lights and straight upgrades from the stop light. Ohhh they were interesting.
On the way to eastern PA(1st part of the week) each time I drove and was my turn for a weigh station it was closed. On the 2nd part of the week(western Pa) the sign said closed..and had I not slowed to look at it...I would have missed it changing to OPEN!!! So I pull in listen to almost everything my trainer says. Not realizing the stop light said go on red..--> --> Pull up break...and pull off, on my green..peice of cake. I did not dump the clutch, something he said most newbies wanna do. Told me I did it perfect.
He made me feel real good when he said that he hopes if he stays training that all pick it up as fast as I have. He was talking to other company drivers when he said that, as we were all waiting 5+ hours for a backhaul.
He did not want me to drive the backhaul home due to the fact we were 77,350 lbs gross and had alot of mountains. It was steel coils and we had 13 of them and they can shift and slide..so he wanted me to see how he handled the load. Which was fine cause I was sick as hell anyways. My own kids gave me the cold that has been around the house all week. I could hardly think or breathe to talk, and coughing and sneezing every time I took a breath. So trying to learn just was not high on my list.
All and all it has been a GREAT WEEK!! I am still having a BLAST!
The money with the company is what I want to make it. But I can be home at least a few hours every weekend, if I want. So far I am very very happy!!!!
Thanks again for all the well wishes..They are much appreciated!
