Bennet Motor Express
Question:
The company always have openings in the paper, and it's driving trucks/buses to other destinations. Have anyone heard of this company? How is the work? The only negative thing, it's independent contractor work which means no benefits. Answer: I've heard of them & seen their trks around, but I do Not know anything about them. If they are Independent Contractors, THAT could be a reason WHY they are Always looking for help. Answer: not just truckload, but the got an rv hauling division(for the ppl with pick-ups) and they also have drivers that deliver the class A and C motorhomes. I have only talked to the drivers in their truckload division, and all the drivers I spoke to were pretty happy as they were a 100% no sheeyot O/O company(although I did run into 1 of their 5 company guys a little later) From what I gather they are a good group of ppl if you like hauling machinery, implements,rv's,or driving Moho's CD "I dont like small cars or real big women, but somehow I always find my self in 'em" (Kid Rock) recovering dweller..........oilfield trash division Answer: I am sure that Bennett is operating in the same manner that Morgan Drive-Away did when they were in business. I checked into Morgan a few years ago and almost went with them. I even went as far as to set up orientation date and made plans to put a tow bar on my car. But after some careful calucations, I saw that I couldnt make any money. If Bennett is like Morgan was, when you drive a RV, you are responsible for the fuel, tolls, and other road expenses. You are not allowed to "make the bed", you can sleep on top of the plastic, but you cannot use the bathroom. Once you reach your destination, you are own your own. To get to the next pick-up point is entirely up to you. Some pull cars behind and others use public transportation, but all the expense from getting from the destination to the next pick up point is placed 100% upon you. Once you figure what you are receiving against your costs, I believe that you will forget the idea, unless you just want to become a professional tourist. Just a grouchy old man. I did have a friend of mine that did the rv towing thing for a short while(not with bennett) and he pretty much went broke, but IMHO that was becuz he never tried settin up backhauls he would just deadhead back to Elkhart after ever delivery(bad move even a pick-up cant operate on .44 cents a mile ya know) CD "I dont like small cars or real big women, but somehow I always find my self in 'em" (Kid Rock)recovering dweller..........oilfield trash division Answer: I did try the drive-away with Bennett 10 years ago for 2 months. There is no money in the drive-away division. Yes you are responible for ALL expenses on the trip. Bennett also takes out 10% of your settlement for escrow... this covers any claims made against you by the receiver. The claims can be anything from deliverly late charges to crack windows. Stay away from any company that has you sign a contract stating you are an independent contractor unless you own your truck.
