One Week Done In School!!!!
Question:
Well I got one week done so far in school. We got the book work done and had two days on the range. Right now I have a 99.3% average (first in the class). All four of us are doing really good actually. The lowest was 97% so we are doing real good so far. This group of guys are very intelligent and are a blast to be around. On the range I started out very rough at first backing all over the place on the skills. Then it kinda clicked and its coming together now. He gave us a practice test on our skills today and I only missed 2 out of 14. These instructors are great and will bend over backwards to show you the proper way to do the skill. We have to do 4 skills for our test: Serpentine, 90 Degree turn, 45 degree angle dock, and Parrellel park. So far I'm doing great. One guy is picking up the backing even better than me in my opinion. We haven't got to drive on the road yet. We will probably do that towards the end of next week. I'll keep you guys posted on how I'm doing. Answer: Good luck Buckeye, it sounds like you're off to a geat start. It took me a whole week to stop over steering while backing so you're way ahead of where I was at the same time. Answer: Backing is just like the old Brylcreem commercial's "A little dab'll do ya" Pavement Pounder Answer: Good luck Buckeye sounds like your doing great sure brings back memories of learning to back. I remember the first backing i did listening to the instuctor doing what he said but not knowing what i was doing then when I did know what i was doing the feeling of putting that trailer where you want it was great it gets easier all the time just alway check if not sure the guy next to you in the parking lot would rather see you get out 10 times and do 20 pull up then see you go strait in but take his fender out in the proces good luck have fun. Answer: Good luck man. Keep in mind that some of those Ohio test sites require you to fire off the 185 point pre-trip in 30 minutes. Answer: I observed a lot of guys in my old class that would just do the excersize once and WALK AWAY.. and say " okay I'm done with that.. What's next?" To get good at it you have to push yourself a little further.. make it "more " challenging. I don't know about your school, in fact It has been soo many years ago that I went, it's getting hard to remember hehe.. But, anyhow, back to my point, Our school was set up to the standard state specs you were going to encounter @ the driving skills test at the DMV.. We used to taunt each other. When we could put it in easily at the normal cone positions.. we would "kick" various cones in 2.. 3 .. 4 feet and try and do the manuver again.. Gets a lot harder when you don't have the room any more to do it I know it sure made me a better driver because we never stood around and woundered what else ther was to do cause we were done with that excersize! Not to encourage drinking but we would bet drinks at the bar after school for every cone we "killed" what better way to have fun while learning When you think you've reached the end of your rope..
