UPDATE ON TRANS AM
Question:
HEY EVERYBODY, I know I promised to update when I finished training but have been too busy ( Lazy !!!) Went to work for TransAm in Olathe , Ks pulling reefers. Just a few things my limited experience has taught me. 1. People in 4 wheelers are CRAZY and DANGEROUS BEWARE!!! 2.Living in a truck for 4+ week with another person can make you hate anybody ! 3. You will be suprised how long you can go on 2 hrs. sleep. $. Pulling reefers is not the worst thing you can do ( yes you will wait sometimes but if you run 3000-3500 mi per wk. you will welcome the time to sleep. I do !) 4. Listen to people with more experience than you because you really don't know anything and won't for a long time! 5. Choose your 1st job carefully! (Recruiters are salespeople, nothing more! 6. Not advise is good advise but it is all worth hearing. 7.People in 4 wheelers are CRAZY and DANGEROUS BEWARE!!! 8. The right Fleet Manager can make or break you Gonna stop for now will get back asap . Want to thank everybody again for all the help (Uturn , Stuffs,All the rest, you know who you are)TransAm is a good organization , I believe, and treats newbies with a lot of respect and courtesy . Answer: Did you get a truck with their rigmaster generator system on your truck??? --> That'll make your life a little easier Hey, if life throws you a curve ball, try and take a swing at it. Who knows what might happen Answer: The power unit that you drive has a manual shift or auto shift? Somebody told me that Trans Am is replacing the Freightliner Century Classes by the Kenworth T-600. Is that true? Trans Am´s power units are beign converted into Auto shifts. Is this also true? Answer: Originally posted by Speed_Drums: The power unit that you drive has a manual shift or auto shift? Somebody told me that Trans Am is replacing the Freightliner Century Classes by the Kenworth T-600. Is that true? It is false as it stands now. Trans Am, when I talked to them said they will continue to use only "freightliners" Trans Am´s power units are beign converted into Auto shifts. Is this also true? Yes they are going to have their entire fleet in auto shifts by the end of 2005. Another reason to try to lure more driver but, when you go to leave hopefully you will remenber how to drive a manual truck again --> Hey, if life throws you a curve ball, try and take a swing at it.
