Question:
I wonder if any one can help me? i was acceped for employment with a trking co. and took the phisical and drug screen it turns out i failed the drug test. i have not smoked any pot in 1 yr but i went to parthy and there were some folks smoking pot but i did not smoke any could i have gotten it in me thru just breathing in the air in the room ? if so i can never go were there may be pot smoking. does is stop me from get o cdl job. what can i do now?

You could have very gotten Pot in you by being in the same room with someone who is smoking it, particularly if you were close to them. Ever heard of a contact buzz/high??????
Does this stop you from getting a driving job? Yes and no. Yes it will stop you from being hired by any of the big name companies. The only ones who might hire you would be some small outlaw company that does not care for anything at all including you.
A failed drug test will haunt you for at least 2 years.
What can you do? Your options at this point are rather limited IMHO.
1. You can request a re-test. What this entails is re-testing the original speciman. I would only do this if you are on prescription meds that you failed to list during the original test. However a second failed drug test could make it worse on you as far as employment. If you are on prescription meds you can go to the Business Center/Medical Forum here on truck net and ask Nurse Red if those meds you are on could give a positive reading on a drug test.
2. You could search your butt off for some outlaw company to hire you. If you find one you can expect to recieve little or no training, little or no pay, and to be run into the ground with no regards to the rules/regs, or your personal well being.
3. You can hang up driving for 2-3 years. Get rid of your druggie friends, go back to driving school again at that time and start all over.

Yes you can get a DOT physcial and not take a drug test..But when you go to get hired by a company they will want a drug test..
I have even went to a few companies and not had to get a physcial because mine is still good..But had to tinkle in their cup

There is no way that you would test positive with out actually consuming it. Are you sure you tested positive for THC or was it one of the other chemicals that they test for? Drug testing for DOT is a 2 step process, that is why they seperate the samples. The first run of the urine is a cheap test. If they get a positive on it, they will run it through a more expensive test (gas spectrum annalysis). THC is stored in the fatty cells. The only way that it would get there is if you consumed it in concentration, not from second hand smoke. Most people can actually test clean after only a few days of not smoking depending on if they only used once and based on their metabelism(sp). It is the chronic smokers that have the physical activity level of a three towed sloth that take up to a month to clean their system of THC. I have gone through many classes in my time in the military and law enforcement. Also did the medical review officer contact you about the positive test result?

My brother-in-law went to take a drug test and failed, he swore he had been at a party where they were smoking but he did'nt, the doctor wrote a statement stating that he would not have had dirty urine unless he had smoked some himself, I dont know how true it is (test positive for 2nd hand smoke) but I do know he failed.
