Got a call from Melton Truck Lines today......
Question:
Had it all set up to go with them after talking and researching them. Got a call from them today and although I could have been hired by them only one thing stands in my way...... They cannot or are not hiring anybody out of the 11 Western States arrrggghhh,, I really wanted to work for them and I find this out. Although she said if I was willing to relocate then we wouldn't have an issue... Time to talk to the wife, that conversation will probably go over like a fart in a fan factory.... Oh well back to the drawing board.. Pavement Pounder Answer: I've heard some pretty GOOD things about Melton. Although, I'm Not surprised.... afterall, they are Related to CFI.(note:Melton has Blue KWs & CFI has Red KWs, b/c KW makes them a Real GOOD "DEAL" on them.) Answer: Melton has a pretty good package (far as I'm concerned), and has asked me to join their family. I love flatbed, but, I have talked to them (Melton) and several drivers in the past, and I just don't care to stay "out" 21 days and get a whopping 3 days home (we all know 3 days really means "the day you get home", whether it is 7 am. or 10 pm., the next day, and the however much of the day you get when you gotta go back out. Break it down? One full day home!!! Did'nt know they were related to CFI Is Schneider related to JB hunt? They both switched to conventionals from cabovers at the same time, and both now have Century Class tractors (one white, one orange) _________________________ Cover Your Cans People!!!It's apparent this place is never going to change....then again; why should it? It gets the clientel it deserves. Bette Midler Answer: or so it seems,of course I am an ex-rabbit and I left them on good terms(I did not abandon a truck,or assault anyone in operations) I could write a novel on the things that went wrong for me in Tulsa, but I will just hit the highlights. Tarp too much....wait too much.....the hometime sucked(I live in Texas,80 miles from their busiest freight lane and I could not get home regularly)......90% east of the Ms. river(YUK) And the straw that broke the camel.......7 days(yes seven)waiting on a trlr to come back from Mexico, with no truckstop within 50 miles and no offering of a motel(I paid for one outa my pocket) Spotless equipment, pay was always right and the benes were wonderful, but I just could not handle they way they operate. I got more if you wanna email me........ CD P.S. Bob Peterson(owner)is married to one of the daughters of the founders of CFI.
