Hey Newbies and "Wanna be Newbies" One thing I&ap
Question:
You all come here asking for advice about this company and that company, but get all mad and defensive when we tell you things that you don't want to hear. We tell you what we know to be true since we, as a group, have experienced just about everything this industry can throw at us. Now, as to whether it'll be that bad or good for you, we don't know. There are some pretty sh*tty companies out there to work for and we really want things to be better for you than it was for us, so we try to steer you away from them. But you get mad when we say anything bad about them. If you already got your mind made up as to who you're gonna work for, why come here and get mad when you don't hear what you wanna hear? What's up with that? ***Title edited by me because I originally worded it wrong. ******************************* "Got the bird dog on... Just because thousands and thousands of others lost everything doesn't mean I stand a less than average chance of making it does it? Oh wait a minute, it does. You veterans! *stamps feet and walks away* *slams door* Answer: The whole idea of hiring "Newbys" is based on the premise that they will work for next to nothing, and do it twice as much as an experienced driver to "impress us", not notice that what we promise we will pay we will always find a way to weasle out of and that includes your "tuition re-imbursement". If your company pays it, they aren't paying something else you don't know about, or they are counting on you being too stupid to figure it out. Do your time (as little as posssible) and get the heck out. Get your hourly job as soon as possible, and get paid for your work. WOLDING< get's you home every weekend, They Don't really have tuition reimbursement. . . and they are cheap! Dodge Makes It, Cummins' Shakes It! www.TurboDieselRegister.com Tanker Yanker Answer: Newbie myself, start classes at Millis on the 24th. I can only speak for myself, but I WANT to hear the BAD with the good, it's the only way I could make an informed decision about my future. I am gratefull to all the negative posts about a company along with the positive. Also I didn't go into this with my head in the clouds, I started to do research in March of this year, extensive research from schools, to companies to web sites to going to truck stops and talking to truckers in person about the industry, and the companies they work for. In August I made the decision and commitment to do it. But if I only got good reports then I'd have my head in the clouds and would end up being very unhappy. So I thank you Hoss and all the others who give the bad side,it helps balance the scales for me. Answer: It has been this way since the begginning of time. At least once a month we get at least one wannabe/newbie who comes in here and basically tells the rest of us we are so full of it that if we ate an ex-lax we would vanish. I get my chuckles though when they either never return to tell us how "wonderful" it is 2,3,6 months down the road or if they do make an appearance back on the board it is only to ask about a new company and they refuse to say why they are looking after only 3 weeks. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart. Answer: Hoss- I am also here to read the bad with the good. I don't post much, but I read everything. I appreicate every word of advice that you and the others pass along. Please don't stop just because of a few with their head in the clouds. Thanks again! Answer: I have no clue what you are talkng about, but I'm sure everyone's experience has helped people.. And the few who are really interested REALLY do appreciate it. (some may not come back to post as their actually out running) And others that read them don't have to ask as it's been stated already.. BTW, I'm going to one of them there erm, lower end companies, don't have much of a choice but at least I know what to expect.. I'll do my time and get a better job later. Thanks! Answer: As for me, I am 6 months into this career. Me and Mr. Rourke have not been getting along as well as we used to in the beginning. Tattoo has been looking at me funny also. So I might have to see about getting reservations on the next plane off of the island. DRIVER BY CHOICE Buzzdog Answer: Originally posted by Buzzdog: As for me, I am 6 months into this career. Answer: This kind of made me think of Primer"boy" wonder what happened to him.. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away Answer: Hoss, keep posting the good and the bad. I for one would like to here both sides of every company. Buzzdog, If you are having problems with Roehl please explain, Thanks. Answer: I tell you what, I found out ALOT of info on this site that I feel prepared me for going into this trade. I got to go on a couple of trips with a friend of mine to show me also. I feel that I'm educated on which companies to definately stay away from now thanks to all of the veterans on this board. THANK YOU Answer: I came to this site to hear "the good, the bad and the ugly". I even enjoy the jokes and funny stories. I for one, do greatly appreciate all of you that have taken the time to answer any questions, give your experiences of life on the road etc. Please don't let one "bad apple" ruin your day. Some of us newbies don't carry the "romantic view" of trucking. I for one am glad to be "in the pit" to see how hard trucking really is. I just wish that EVERYONE had to go thru this course to see how tuff driving these monsters really is. I have so much more respect now for truckers everywhere. I don't tailgate, cut in front of and give wide berth to the drivers. It took us almost a year of planning & research just for me to do this. Keep your wealth of knowledge flowing folks. Once again, A BIG THANK YOU! God Bless, The old gray mare Answer: I have no plans on quitting. I still enjoy driving. It is hard to say actually. I have had some issues. They are issues that anyone would face with any company. The comment I made about Mr. Rourke and Tattoo was to pay homage to Rabelam. DRIVER BY CHOICE Buzzdog Answer: Please don't let one "bad apple" ruin your day. Oh heck no! It ain't gonna happen. I was just wondering why they get mad when we tell them things thay "don't wanna hear". ******************************* "Got the bird dog on...
