Which driving schools have the best reputation?
Question:
Ok, I know that I'm supposed to look for a PTDI sanctioned school, and I've heard that Central Tech in OK is one of the best schools in the country, but what other schools are good? Basically, if I have the opportunity to go to the very best truck schools in the country, which ones are they (other than Central Tech)? Answer: IMNTBHO, Publicly funded schools tend to be better. Not that there aren't good private schools, but, as a group, state funded schools tend to be better and cheaper. I am about half way through a 16 week course at Alexandria (MN) Technical College and I already have a job lined up, largely on the reputation of the school. Answer: The school I'm going to was referred by a couple of places I'm looking at plus the state has certified them too. They are working on the PTDI stuff now. Its a fairly new school. Answer: Ummmm, Buckeye, what's the name of that school? Answer: The name of the school is HR Career Development Truck Driving School. It is associated with Nortwest State Community College here in Northwest Ohio. I'm not paying so this is the one that WIA program is sending me to. http://www.hrcareeronline.com/main.html Answer: In my humble opinion, You dont have to go out of your way to a PTDI school. Go to the school nearest you. As long as it gives you at least 50 hours driving (behind the wheel) If you have a choice then take the PTDI course, if you dont, dont freak out. As long as you pass the DMV test, you will get a shot at a job. If you apply for a job with a CDL. chances are the Co. wont care where you went to school.
