appropriate parking
Question:
Heres the deal. I have been experiencing this problem over the last few weeks so I thought it may benifit me in the future to mention it here. Please do not pull onto the cat scales, wiegh, then pull off only to stop directly in front of the scale exit and proceed into the truck stop to pay, eat, shower, shoot the shizza, tell tall stories for 45 min then move youre truck!!! Pull off find a parking spot where you aren't in the way and then go into the truck stop. The lady behind the desk will not give youre ticket to someone else if you don't hurry right in!! That way I wont have to wander through the truck stop to find you, and you won't hold up the 4 other trucks that want to weigh and be on they're way. Wouldn't you know it, but it is always a swift driver! Atleast when it has happened to me 3 times in the last week and a half. Also after fueling pull foreward so another truck can fuel while you get the fuel slip. If youre going to browse c.b. antennas, 12 volt appliances, before admiring that wooden tire thumper with lead in the middle, perhaps you should park the rig in a appropriate spot before proceeding into the truck stop.
Thanks in advance for "parking appropriately"

In addition to what you are talking about I have also been seeing a lot of drivers parking along the fringes of the truck stop and making it hard or impossible to navigate through the parking areas. Also they have been parking next to the last actual space and you come close to taking the front end of their rig off when you try to turn.
As far as pulling up when you are done fueling. Be sure to examine your lane closely to make sure if you do pull up that you will not be preventing drivers from exiting the fuel island. While most TS have ample room to pull forward not all do.

Saw that happen in PA. last month. When that Swift driver returned, 50 minutes later, someone had released his 5th wheel. Yup, landing gear collapsed. I'll never tell on the O/O from Tyler, Tx that did it..............

Well that's brilliant! Block traffic in that spot even longer.
What if the 5th wheel didn't unhook right there? What if it had happened just as he got back on a busy highway?
Coulda injured or killed somebody (or a family).
Maybe next time, you could suggest checking to see if the door is locked. If it isn't, then park the truck for him (out of the way of course).........way the hell out in the back 40!

of drivers never end to dismay me. Pulling someone's 5th wheel. That is as good as yanking someones service air line. Really, really cute, very mature, and such an act of brillance.

see if i ever ever ever saw that i would report it immediately. maybe if more people started reporting stuff like that it would stop happening. anyhoo...just irritates me when you know that what your doing is fatally dangerous. that idiot should not be on the road.

Answer:
I for one think Both guys was a true A$$hole
Two wrongs don't make a right and at the same time the driver who dumped his trailer should have had enough common sense to do a walk around and then it would have never happened..
And the guys that sat there and watched it happen and then laughed about it are no better than the others..
Yes it would be a good idea to report something like that but 9 out of 10 times no one will believe it anyway..
Let this little story be a reminder to everyone.. Any time you are out of your truck even if it is just to run to the bathroom at a rest area ALWAYS check..It only takes a split second for someone to walk by and pull the handle..
They may not have a beef with you at all but they may have a problem with who you drive for..

Answer:
I report it, you call it. I do not have the ba!!s to move another persons truck, that's asking for trouble. I can, and will wait for you to move, regardless of how long it takes. I did not, nor will I ever think of pulling any nasty tricks on another driver. However, with all the shi_ that goes on at truck stops, I prefer to mind my own business. If I were to report all the crap that goes on, .....Never Mind!!!!!!!!!!!1
Anyways, that's how I see it.
Just tried to add a bit of info to this post. Some drivers can get really pissed by your actions, and take drastic measures. Just some info for Newbies...............
P.S. Whenever, I mean Always, when I park, I set the trailer brakes first, then tug the tractor forward and set its brakes. That way nobody can pull my 5th wheel loose.

Answer:
they would hurt your truck not because they have a beef with you but who you drive for??????!!!!! now that is some immature idiots. i have no idea what goes on in truckstops. i'm speaking from inexperience and you guys aren't. some things i read out here just baffle me. its all good to know tho.
drive safe y'all.

I saw an MS Carriers trailer sitting on it's nose in a parking spot on Friday. Someone must have decided to pick on a swifty and pulled his pin. I didn't see a bobtail tractor around so I am not too sure what was up. The landing gear was folded right up though.
I will be taking a look at my release handle every time I go to get back in the truck from now on though. Maybe even back against the trailer before taking off too.
