Lori's School problems........
Question:
Okay, now I'm gonna' add my two cents, Sorry everyone I know what she's talking about with the school or at least the fellow students! You know some are to crude for words!!! I had instructors who taught well enough when they were not cussing and screaming at you in traffic! Hey it would be too bad if she just gives up cause' I felt that way all through my school, but did'nt. Please Lori for yourself just try to stick it through and God knows it isn't easy! I see you have two options ignore the BS or complain to some school officials.

Answer:
I say just go with the flow... let them carry on. Lighten up and do a little "carrying on" yourself too.
Lori needs to remember why she is there... and it isn't to be irritated by other students! So forget about them. Focus on the learning... there is a light at the end of the tunnel... that light is your shiny new CDL flashing back at you.
It is a great feeling to accomplish that much.

Answer:
Karen i know what you mean i never expected school to be like this. the instructors are quite crude. i think its because alot of us have been in the professional world before we got into this and we are used to that and so when we see people acting this way in a school or a business its just not appropriate. and it really isn't. its not that were being snobby. trucking would have a whole lot better image if people didn't behave this way. but i think its changing. i think alot of people who have been in professional positions are getting into trucking also alot of women are and that always seems to make any profession clean its act up. think of when women came into being firefighters and cops there was no more "locker room talk" around the firehouse and guys stop talking the way they talk when women were in the room so i think its a good thing.

Answer:
Have you named this school yet? Might be a great thing for others to know of your distress with what is obviously a bad situation.
The BEST of us discuss issues.
MOST of us discuss things.
The WORST of us discuss other people.

Answer:
Report and expose!
It might save some one else from going through the UN-professionalism you have had to deal with.
Just remember.... when ya hit bottom, at least you're on solid ground!

Answer:
well from what i've read on here i've noticed that other peoples experiences are very similar. it seems that all trucking schools are like this.
on a side note your quote about the worst of us discuss other people kind of hit a nerve with me. i shouldn't talk about these people in a condescending kind of way. i should respect them enough to call them on their behavior.
well in fact from what i've read i think my school probably is one of the more professional schools. i did mention the inappropriate behavior to my recruiter and it was taken care of immediately. in fact i was impressed with how they handled it. so things are better.

Answer:
Well....it was a good post, so maybe it deserved three times.
Hang in there lori. Once you get used to this "culture" and figure out it's all hat and no cattle (most of these loud mouths are wimps), you'll enjoy wrapping them around your finger sometimes, and - believe it or not - will grow fond of them too.
Getting out there and finally doing the job is your next eye-opener. When you discover how grueling and difficult it is sometimes, you develop a certain commradrie and understanding you never imagined with some of these folks.
I know you don't believe me...but you'll see....
Sounds like things are going well. Be safe.

Answer:
oh i do believe you. i'm beginning to feel that way right now. the closer it gets the more i'm seeing of this industry and the people in it and i really think there are some of the nicest people in the world who are just real.
i have to say i'm looking forward to getting away from having to be having to have a front on all the time.
anyway i'm just rambling
have fun out there y'all
