If Hispanic you'll just be "a f'n mexican to everyone, for some reason people think all hispanics are mexican.... If your Middle eastern your just a "sand N word" And so on and so forth.......... Anyones tells you different they are lying..... My husband has an accent that is a lot more understanable than most southern dialect, yet there is always someone making fun of him and saying crap like "was that english? Go back to Mexico...and so on and so forth... Some drivers stick up for him and tell the other drivers to stop being asses, but a lot of times drivers take it as a que to jump on the band wagon and make fun along with the others... I've heard shippers and receivers call black drivers "boy" and call hispanic drivers "spics" The term Jewed down is heard a lot in southern states, instead of negotiating prices, they "Jew"them down... Answer: I generally get along with most of the people I meet!!!!! we are all human!! You pick your friends that show what you are really made of. Answer: The term Jewed down is heard a lot in southern states, instead of negotiating prices, they "Jew"them down... The term Jewed down isn't only heard in the south. It's also used quite frequently by Jewish merchants themselves because it actually is a sign on wise negotiating. Anyone that runs all over the country will get screwed with because of who they are. You will never be the right color or from the right place all the time. In most cases you are just another driver to most folks and they will treat you the same as everyone else. At large companies, you are just a number and by getting dispatched over the qualcomm, you are just another driver without a face or name. Wyle E. Coyote Supergenius! Answer: I would imagine someone dressing and speaking like a gangster rapper type person, would increase their chances of getting unfavorable treatment. Wyle E. Coyote Supergenius! Answer: I'm an American of Spanish-Italian-French-Danish-North American Indian descent. I'm also a SOLID 6', 210 pounds. A few years ago, I was watching a softball game and overheard a player on another team comment on the Puerto Rican team that they would be playing. He was talking about the "spics" and how he was looking forward to "kicking their azzes" playing softball and maybe after the game, too. I told him that I would be glad to relay his message to them, or that maybe he'd like to warm up on me before he took them all on. When I told him that, the base went out of his voice, and he got really squeaky voiced. Nothing more was said by him, at least when I was in the area, for the rest of the tournament. Most of what you hear are cowards who hide behind a microphone and probably aren't worth the breath it takes to reply to. Use the "off" button on you radio. Don't give a thought to what is said behind your back. I find that people involved in all the aspects in trucking get along better then most industries. Now because I'm white. Most of the race baiters will say I'm a racist! However, some of the hardest workers, nicest people and most helpful people are a different color then me!! I have many friends in the New York area that are black and all the other shapes of skin. We work great together, because we respect one another! I have noticed that some black drivers are a little hold offish at times. I think it's because they're not sure how we white people will treat them. However, just like me, if you treat them with respect they relax and are friendly! I try to be color blind when it comes to my fellow man. And most people I see try to be too! There are people that are always trying to stir things up. But, that’s because they’re small! I’m disappointed that some posters say that there is racism in trucking. I guess if you look for it and highlight it it’ll happen. However, if somebody doesn’t care what color I am. I never notice their differences either. Of course, it is hard from some to get past my Hollywood looks! ************************************ Indiana RoadRunner A legend in his own mind! So very true! ************************************ Indiana RoadRunner A legend in his own mind! Where I'm from the term Jewed down is as acceptable as calling a black the N word. It would be considered a anti-semitic slur.. http://www.msnusers.com/PrincessPennie/shoebox.msnw Answer: Don't worry about it. Most of the time it is just a bunch of uneducated idiots anyway. Most of the people who use those words don't even know what they mean. And MOST OF ALL..It all loses it's desired affect if you just let it slide and don't let it bother you!! So just lighten up and just let them show off their ignorance then you can laugh at them. Answer: I don't hear a lot of racist comments, but that might because I don't turn on my CB often. I run within the legal limits, keep my log book up to date, and don't tailgate or otherwise harrass 4 wheelers, therefore I don't need to know what the scales are doing or whether there was a bear 25 miles up the road. The reason I don't turn on my CB often though, is mainly because there is a lot of hate and malice. I can do without that whole subculture. Some people find fault as if it were buried treasure.
