company advice for newbie
Question:
Going to school in 3 weeks. Need some advice on the following companies. STAR, Werner, CR England, ROEHL, Swift and TMC. Have pre-hires for these and sure would appreciate anyones help or there opinions. Thanks all! Answer: You can go ahead & take CREngland OFF your list. TMC= is a Flatbed carrier that does a LOT of Tarping.(cool lookin' trks, tho) (T)arp(M)ore(C)argo. Use TruckNet's "SEARCH" Feature(click here) to find info about the carriers you are interested in. After reading the Past Posts, you may or may not want to Scratch Swift & Werner OFF your list. WHERE do you LIVE?(by knowing WHERE you Live, someone Might be able to tell you about a BETTER carrier to start with.) BTW, Welcome to TruckNet. Answer: Take CR England off your list. As for the remaining companies you need to sit down and make a list of what is important to you as far as hometime, benefits, rider/pet policies, type of equipment hauled (flatbed, reefer, dry van, etc) how much loading/unloading you are willing to do, etc, and then carefully examine each company and try to determine which company is right for you at this point in your career. In addition to these questions you need to ask yourself how important it is to you to be more a name instead of a number. If you don't mind getting "lost in the shuffle" and getting your job assignment and being turned loose to go for it then you might do well at a larger company like Swift or Werner, but if you want to come closer to being known by name and as person look towards the smaller companies. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart. Answer: Originally posted by uturn2001: Take CR England off your list. I second that... @#*!%$^@! Answer: Yep Cr England is a gonner just like you will be if you go there. If it were me I would look at TMC the hardest. Not only do they have good equiptment it will give you better experience. You might have to do some work tarping but it beats siting in a truck all day getting fat. If you keep your record clean you may gain the experience needed to move into better paying jobs ling heavy haul and specialized hauling. Vans and reefers will always be vans and reefers. The other 2 I would look at would be Star and Roehl. I would quickly cross the rest off. "There is just something about fresh winter snow and a river. The day is bright even if it is cloudy, the water is friendly even if it is cold and the fish are there even if they are not biting." Answer: Werner is worth a good look. The only down side it the electronic logs. Many see this as a bad thing. Taking more control from the driver. The drivers I have talked to say the miles are good. By good I mean a adverage of 2700 a week over a years time. Roehl I have heard is a good company. Good luck.202 N Main Street Summerfield Il 62289 TRUCK PARKING AVAILABLE! Answer: thanks all for the help. I have too many people all saying drop CR England. I think I have it narrowed to TMC, ROEHL and STAR. Anyone else have any more advice on these companies? Answer: i live in tennessee, clarksville Answer: Now that you have narrowed it down to 3 let me help you narrow it down to 1. Roehl Take a look at this and read what the Roehl drivers say about who they work for. You often don't hear very good things about peoples companies. But isn't it iroic that almost all of the drivers from Roehl are pretty happy at where they are. Just my observation. Tim WWJBD - What Would Jimmy Buffett Do??? This is USAF 2T2 and I approve this message. Answer: thanks tim, i really appreciate that. i have been hearing good things about them as well. anyone else got any good advice?
