HELP! Crete needs to prehire!?!
Question:
I am into my first week of school. I love it and I am pretty good at it, at least I've nailed the backing part of it, anyway, I was hoping to get hired by Crete because I was told that they hire students out of school. But now that I'm in school it turns out you have to be prehired from Crete BEFORE school, and you have to do extra work for Crete, as in worksheets and extra driving tests, in order to be PTDI certified. They say it might be to late to get prehired. Now I'm wondering if any other companies hire students. Any answers? Thanks.

Answer:
The brief answer is yes.

Answer:
Millis and Rhoel might be up the same alley as Crete.

Answer:
there are plenty of companies out there that will hire students out of school.
Your issue with may be that they only take students from a specific school. I know that Millis operates that way. You must attend their school or they will not hire a student.
Some Companies for you to check into though:
PAM, Trans AM, Swift, Central Refriderated, Roehl, Werner, Willis Shaw, Grand Island Express.
I will always be a mutter trucker at heart.
Answer:
In your profile is a place where you can indicate where you are from. It will then show up at the bottom of every post you make. I see so many asking about companies that hire students, felons, and so forth but don't indicate where they are from.
Uturn gave you a list of companies that hire students, but they are all national companies. If you guys would indicate where you are from, someone who lives reasonably close to you may be able to point you toward a good local/regional company in your particular area of the country. By not indicating your location, you might miss out on a great opportunity.

Answer:
Crete must be different from Shaffer (we are owned by crete).......over here I don't think they prehire you but they will hire out of certain schools only (which are the ones that are PTDIA certified).

Answer:
I live in Lincoln, Ne. I am attending Southeast Community College. I have talked to many drivers about driving schools and all of them have told me that Southeast has the best programs. Crete will only hire if you are PTDI certified. Southeast will only give me a certificate. Which my instructor says that this certificate from Southeast counts as one year experience (huh). But this counts for their excellent track record with training qualified students. To become PTDI certified you must be prehired and you are given an additional workbook about an inch and a half thick with worksheets that need to be completed plus the regular school work of the rest of the class. Then, Crete has a rep come out at the end of each week to check on the progress of the students and to pick up the extra homework Crete requires. Also, the Crete students are seperated from the rest of the class after we begin driving so that their performance is scored differently for Crete. I only imagine that this is the same fro Shaffer. I have applied at Werner because I believe they hire students, but their pay is lower than Crete's which bums me out!

Answer:
The only negatives in my book are they need 65 MPH trucks and a flatbed division.A regional division in our neck of the woods would be nice also.Outside of that they are one of the best of the big boys.

Seems I remember A LOT of Crete drivers who wouldn't acknowledge the driver of a blue truck ! But, that was only a few out of a lot of drivers I was able to meet.
BTW, you know why Duane Acklie originally bought Hunt Transport don't ya???
So he would have an in-house wrecker service !!!
