Cell Phones
Question:
I'm starting truck driving school Monday (Oct. 6th) and I plan on going with one of the major companies OTR to start for 1-2 years to get a good "employabilty" record and I know this means I'll be away from home alot. With that being the case, I want to have the best cell phone plan I can to talk to my wife as much as possible. Any input on what's the best way to go will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:
Depends on who you got for a cell phone provider.
Who can provide you with the services you require.

Answer:
I see you are from Cincie. There have to be dozens of cell phone providers there. You have to shop around. None of them are going to be able to provide all your wants and needs. Pick the one that comes the closest.
For the most part, competition is fierce and service ranges from pretty good to downright lousy. Just don't tie yourself up long term to any of them. That way, you can bail out when you find a better deal.
What works for me in the areas I run probably would not work for you so I won't mention my service. They don't pay me to advertise for them, and there are some areas I want to toss the phone out the window. Overall, I am satisfied, but you need to find the service that fits you.

Thanks, I've never owned or wanted a cell phone so I'm starting from zero knowledge. I guess it's a little more complicated than I thought.

Answer:
Your Best bet for Coverage Areas is going to be AT&T or Verizon or SBC.
Sprint, just does NOT have good coverage areas.
I Know this from 1st hand exp....I used to use Sprint & I have friends that are Currently on Sprint.(they have poor credit & Sprint is the only place that will give them a phone w/o a deposit.)
My Sister, Used to have Sprint....
This past Memorial Day, we went to a Rodeo in a small town here in Oklahoma, & she & the other Sprint users could NOT get a signal.
...On the other hand, Myself & ALL of the Other AT&T users Did Get a Signal.
Everyone was asking to use MY AT&T phone.
