Want To Come Back
Question:
I've been out of driving for 4 years. I have been selling cars and it's not what I want to do. I want to get back in driving again. I started out going to Werner's School in 94. While with my trainer he was popping all kinds of pills due to his health and I got to the point I could'nt sleep cause the way he was. I told my fleet manager and he said don't worry about it. I left after that. Two years later I went with CR England and left them due to their bad training program. CR called me back and said I would get a better trainer. Two weeks later I left, again a bad trainer and the fleet manager said too bad. Again they called be back and the trainer I got had 7 accidents in the last 3 years and he hit another truck at a loading dock. He wanted me to take the blame so he would'nt get fired from training. I said that was it and left again. In 99 I went to a school again and went to Dick Simon. I drove 8 months for them till they started talking about being sold to Swift. Alot of drivers started to go elsewhere. I was stuck on the East Coast and several times I asked to get a load to Seattle to see my dad who was sick at the time and my fleet manager said no and tried to send me to New York. I got a load back to Salt lake and left due to they did'nt care about drivers anymore. I would like some onfo on US Xpress,Willis Shaw or FFE and I've seen Seward on 80 alot. Any help would be greatful. I want to get back on the road again. That 8 months with Dick Simon before they started to go downhill. I had no problems. I drove about 80,000 miles with no accidents or late on my loads. Thanks for any info you can share with me. Answer: Use the "Search Feature" (top of each page), here at TruckNet. Inquire about the companies you are looking at. Stay the hell away from C.R. England, Swift, Central Refridgerated (formerly Dick Simon). There are a hell of a lot more (and better), training companies out there to work for! Get to work and find one! You're the one that has to do the "leg work". Only YOU know what YOU wants! Now get busy! ******************************* "Got the bird dog on... Dodgin' the scales... 80 miles an hour and a step outta jail..." It ain't been so easy, but I guess I shouldn't complain. I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane." (from Waylon Jennings) Answer: I know you had good reasons for them, but a prospective employer is going to see a lot of DNF's (did not finish) on your record. Be prepared for that to cause you some trouble. They may be satisfied with the "trainer from hell" story as all companies want you to know that their trainers are the best in the industry and things will be different here. Some times you have to dig through a lot of horse sh#t to find the pony. I will check the search out on the companys I listed. I had some bad trainers and sometimes instead of making waves you move on. I will check the listings out. I had alot of time to think about what I want to do. I just want to go with a good company and not listen to what people tell you cause sometimes you get the wrong info. Again thanks. Answer: I did it 5 years..........Dont miss it that much. I love trucking, have never gone otr, all local. Check that out mabe? I still miss the close every day, mabe thats why I am so anxious to make people think the same way as me all the time. TJ Hey Dude, MY sunglasses are WAY cooler than yours.
