Welcome to Live Dialogue !!!

Talked to a SNI driver today...
Question:
and he told me that they no longer slip seat on the the Wal-Mart account that I'm looking at. He also said that he is home almost every day and gets good miles each week too. I'm gonna go over to the terminal and see if I can talk to some one there tonight and get some facts about it. He said also that the trucks they have are 99 and newer Century class Freightliners. This might put them at the top again, not sure until I go over there.

Answer:
A buddy of mine was going to hire on with SNI for a Wal Mart dedicated account around here because some recruiter told him he would get home weekly, yadda yadda yadda.
Well he started the hiring process and got to orientation and was told he would be going with a trainer for "X" amount of weeks and then given his own truck to run OTR. He is like "What the %$#^^@&!!!!! Well he got told that he had to be with SNI for a min of 6 months as a new driver before getting on a dedicated account. Needless to say he packed his bags and caught the first bus home.
This was 2 years ago and maybe something has changed, I dont know. Just make sure you know exactly what you are getting into and get the full story.
Same goes with any company.
I will always be a mutter trucker at heart.

If you want the scoop from one person's perspective of what it is like to go through training with Schneider and then drive for them for a year...
Do a Google search on "Paul Cilwa" and read his trucking journal.

Buckeye, did you ever go over to www.pumpkindriver.com and ask any questions over there? Lots of dedicated drivers post on there.

Heres the deal. The driver that I ran into today was telling me the truth. I actually got to talk to the STL in charge of 0-90 day newbies. He said that that account is out 5 and in 2. You get to pick the two you want to be home. All trucks are 99 and up Freightliner Century Class. The senior drivers have the nice trucks. There are even a couple of 04 there. Looked SWEET! Those go to the guys with the most seniority. The trucks are assigned BUT they have to stay at the yard on weekends. If a Flex (part-time) driver comes in on the weekend they MIGHT use the truck. He said it was a big MIGHT, but not likely. They have no COE. 80% stores and 20% cross dock. Average run is 400-500 miles. They want you to run atleast 2100 miles a week. He said that he has some drivers getting 3000 per week or a little over, he said they don't go home much. He seemed really nice about anything that I asked. Most of the trucks on this account are red. He said that is what I would probably get.
Oh and I'm going to my own school so IF I decide to go with SNI I won't have to sign a contract to work for them for that year, but still attend their training.

I to have looked in to the Walmart Account in Bedford PA. Every Distribusion Center Slip Seats, No matter what, thats just the way schneider works. They have the same thing you explain except for the miles and no slip seating. For 5 days out you will be very lucky if you reach 2200 miles a week. Also, the more newbies that go to schneider. The more dirvers that are gonna want to be home every weekend. So, in turn your miles will just dwindle to nothing. I heard the Walmart Account use to (a few years ago) give drivers around 2700 miles a week just because there were fewer drivers and more stores to handle. My opinion if you go with it and your miles drop below 2200 miles a week I'd go OTR in a heart beat.
Just Remember, What might look good to you when you first start, might be one hel l of a pitfall wihtin a year. Pick Wisely
Hey, if life throws you a curve ball, try and take a swing at it. Who knows what might happen
