Question:
I live in MA. Just called SNI went thru phone prompts got a nice woman. Said in my area they are only looking to hire those with CDL License. They will not put me thru the training program.
I can't afford trucking school, I gave up numerous other things to jump on with SNI. What gives? I asked if I relocated to a hiring area that they cannot guarenty that they will still take me only with a permit.
I'm crushed. I check out nearly every trucking outfit and always find myself coming back to SNI, and today I find out that this is not going to work out the way I thought. Bummer.
Well if anyone has suggestions, I've got open ears.

makes me wonder why their doing that with you. Lots of people with permits go through their school. Are you thinking about moving to another area they don't usually hire from? Or is there something on the record that makes them want a CDL first?
All I can say is keep calling companies with their own school. You may find one to take you.

crete in lincoln ne has a very low cost training program,a few hundred dollars,one problem is living expense while attending
if you are desperate and qualify,you could pack your bags,find some part time job and live in some dive while attending their coarse,it's at the lincoln community collage,it is not a company run school,it's a state run school,but crete being the good corperate citizen helps out by supplying the trucks and hires those who do very well,it is no slacker coarse where you just have to get a CDL and crete hires you.They have standards you must meet.
Joetruckdriver that posts here is a trainer for crete,he does not work for the school,he is after the school if you get hired.You must get good grades to get hired.

Answer:
The school Zigrag is reffering to is Southeast Community College. (I live in Lincoln.) The program is 8 weeks, cost about $600, and is VERY thorough. It is a highly regarded program.
If you can find housing, they will teach to be a driver, not just a steering wheel holder.

you live in the boston area and they said they were not hiring in that area??? you can get a permit that isnt a problem, what you could do is if you have a relative somewhere just use their address and you might have to just go there on a temporay basis but it might get you in the door cause once your in you got it made.
