Finally got the truth on Stevens Transport....
Question:
Finally stopped at a truck stop and spoke with a Stevens Driver. Asked him about money and other things. Stevens is excellent if all you want is their school to help get CDL...Otherwise I got the same info from him as I found in here. Their pay sucks...you will be just a number etc....I think Im just going to go to their 3 week schooling , get my CDL and bail out on them. I know I'll be billed for the cost of schooling, but hell, Ill repay them 25.00 a month and go on about my business with a better job....Any input or other responses greatly appreciated.....By the way..the driver I spoke with has been with them since February 2003 and is currently looking for another job too...lol.... Answer: Thats a great idea Einstein---go for it!!! Answer: Sounds like a real good plan to me,go for it. I just know you'll land a better job with that whole 3 weeks of training. I really like it here on Fantasy Island. Mike _________________ Mike Answer: I personally think it's a good idea when contemplating ANY company to find a TS and talk to that company's drivers... preferrably more than 1 or 2 if u can. Answer: "By the way..the driver I spoke with has been with them since February 2003 and is currently looking for another job too" 99 percent of newbies are looking for a better job. Most in a different career field. Some things have to make you wonder. Beyond that you may not recieve your "diploma" until after you completed the full contract or have paid for the school in full and trucking companies and insurance companies like to see those diplomas for the first year or two. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart. _________________ RC Universe Answer: Originally posted by rookie1: .Any input or other responses greatly appreciated....... OK, you asked for it. That is about the dumbest thing you could ever do. If Stevens is that bad (and they are) then get on with another company. Schneider, Swift etc. Do your year with them and then walk if that is what you want to do. I see that you are from Texas. If being with a company close to home is important then go with Stevens, but for god sakes don't quit after training. You'll only be hurting yourself. Answer: Thats the worst thing you could do the will ruin your reputation before you even get started , Answer: I say you screw em. Answer: Have you even looked at the schools in your area? Have you looked into any of the Voc Training companies for help? Have you checked into the community colleges like ladytrckr101 reported she is doing? Read her post. You will notice that she is only paying $800.00 for the course, and there is probably some financial aid available. Just go to the financial aid office at the school and they will even fill out the paperwork if you have a problem doing so. There is really no need what so ever to do what you are thinking. Have you bothered to read all the posts that are against this idea? They are right you know. «"The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above-average drivers."» Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
