good one or not
Question:
ok i guess im not going to cre.so can anyone tell me about us xpress.are they a good one or not? thanks for all the help on cre.hope ya'll can help on this one.

Answer:
They use automatic transmissions and, while they are the coming thing, they aren't common yet so you will have trouble changing companies if you don't like them; other than that they are pretty much like the rest of the OTR carriers, not a lot of difference in them as far as newbies are concerned.
Seeing as you are in SC you might want to check out Schneider in Charlotte, they are about the best at training newbies of the usual dweller carriers, they are stricter and also don't hold you as long as most in the cheap lumper stage of training before you get your own truck. Stay with them a year, or less if it pays more, including your pro-rated school contract, to jump elsewhere. Of course I'm assuming you don't want to pay upfront for your own schooling.

Answer:
I run with a lot of US-Xpress drivers out west. Never heard anything exceptional either way -- a good sign I think. I've looked into their western van division, but when you add it all up, the "total pay package" is virtually identical to Werner. Drivers seem to like their auto-trannys, which still let you choose a gear change if the computer can match rpm and road speed. Just push the button and it does it for you -- great on hills, I'm told. But as Dominoes said, you'll never develop your gear grinding skills at US.

Answer:
Crete. They offer driver training, good pay upon completetion of training.
There are also other companies that are part of the Crete family that may meet your needs.
Crete
I will always be a mutter trucker at heart.
Answer:
uturn2001 makes a good point about Crete. Crete (and it's afflilates) is one of those slightly higher-end companies that usually don't train, and only hires experience. But right now, the "tightening driver's market" has forced some of these companies to go back into training mode again. Old threads you'll find here may not reflect that companie's current training status.
