Roehl Drivers
Question:
I was talking with this Roehl driver from Litchfield Illinois and he told me that if you were fueling at the Gateway Truckstop and were heading west on 64 from St. Louis that you could not stop by your house or it was considered hometime. Is there any truth to that. I would be kinda pissed off if I had some extra time and wanted to stop by the house and see the Warden(wife). This is USAF 2T2 and I approve this message. Answer: I meant this to be a reply to the original "Roehl" thread. Tim WWJBD - What Would Jimmy Buffett Do??? This is USAF 2T2 and I approve this message. Answer: So stop!!!!!!! If you have the time and it's not too far out of the way they won't care. I guess it would depend on how far out of the way it is. Also, if you are late delivering, that's a service failure. You don't need them. But if you have the time, my suggestion: GO FOR IT! Better to have it and not need it as need it and not have it!Just remember:If the world did'nt suck, you'd fall off! The more I see and read about Republicans and Democrats, the more I wish we had an Independent Party. IMPEACH BUSH!!!!!!!!!! Answer: When are you gonna pull the trigger and come to work for Roehl? You're in a hell of a good area. Better to have it and not need it as need it and not have it!Just remember:If the world did'nt suck, you'd fall off! The more I see and read about Republicans and Democrats, the more I wish we had an Independent Party. IMPEACH BUSH!!!!!!!!!! Answer: I'm with Razz on this one. Alot of it would depend on who your FM is and the relationship you have with him. With my FM I have a good relationship and understanding with him. When the weekend rolls around, if I can not get a run that is worth while, enough miles to keep me running all weekend, he will get me a load that will get me through the house. If you have a run that gets you close, I'd go through the house. You just have to make sure that you make your appointment. At first they may be a little apprehensive, but after you prove that you can be where you are supposed to be that should change. Hope to see you either in Marshfield or Gary one of these Thursdays with a brand new black hat..... I love going through on Thursdays, you see all of these smiling faces with those brand new CLEAN black hats....... DRIVER BY CHOICE Buzzdog Answer: I leave sunday for Gary In. for orientation at Roehl I already went thru a four week CDL program and I have my CDL anything you guy's(gal's} could tell me on what to expect would be appreciated. Thanks, GSPatton Answer: I lost track of how many times I stopped at the house IF I HAD THE TIME. If I didn't have a whole lot of time, I would park at the Moasis T/S in Little Chute, WI and have the wife meet me for dinner to make the early delivery the next morning. Hey, a couple of hours is better than none. As long as you make your delivery on time, your DM shouldn't mind. In the beginning, I let him know. After a while, he could care less, as long as you make the delivery on time and don't go way out of route. Answer: You'll have a drug test and fill out lot's of forms. They will issue you fuel cards, access cards and show you how to use them. Assign you a phone mail number and show you how to set it up. You'll take a road test. You'll go some presentations on safe driving techniques, logging and so on. Everything you need to know before you get assigned to a trainer. If you're a newbie, by Thursday, you'll be assigned a trainer, and may leave Friday - Sunday (depending on when your trainer will arrive at Gary. During the week, hang out near the fuel island and ask drivers questions (near the smoking shack). Answer: Send me an e-mail (click on the envelope) I got a response that I sent to a newbie that is a good read. Answer: You'll also probably take a tour thru the shop where they will show you how to change a fuel filter. PAY ATTENTION ! YOU are responsible for changing it as needed. Always carry a couple of spares, and also buy the filter wrench for $8 or so---it's a hell of a lot easier than pi$$ing around with a hammer and screwdriver . That's what the cheapskates use. (they also break the caps often.) They will also show you how to adjust brakes. Very easy--just pay attention. I've found several guys that were sitting in a T/S lot trying to figure them out, or trying to change filters without a wrench. . Also: Don't be afraid to take some tools with you when you go on your own. They'll hammer on you for several days about hours of service/logs/safety, etc. Good luck. Better to have it and not need it as need it and not have it!Just remember:If the world did'nt suck, you'd fall off!
