My new job......
Question:
Well I'm not exactly a newbie, I have drove over 7 yrs, but took sometime off, just a little to much time, a bit over 3yrs. Well it was a surprise to me that companys wouldn't hire me just because I didn't have at least 6 months of recent experience. Heck, I even had several safe driving awards from my previous employer, one for 250,000 accident free miles.Well a friend of mine told me about this little mon & pop operation. They have some dry-bulk tanks, flatbeds, a drop-deck and a couple of vans. Well I put in an app with them and they hired me. I started yesterday pulling a dry-bulk tank. I hual cement to the plant that fills the cement trucks. The funny thing about the job is that I only drive 4 miles round trip. The only thing that worried me was the truck. It's an early 80's model Mack that has 2 sticks. One stick is a 5 speed the other is a low/high range with reverse. Its no speed demon, but it pull like there is no tommorrow. Every load that I pulled I was grossed at over 79,500. Well I've went on to long, so I will end for now. Coolbreeze Answer: Glad you found a job! I hope you enjoy it. One of the most enjoyable driving jobs I've had was running a dump truck and pup from the gravel pit to the asphalt plant. Made 8 trips a day. And it was for a mom & pop company. I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane. Waylon Jennings Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
