Question:
Hello All!!
We here at Crist CDL are in need of your help. We are in the middle of updating our Online Testing Center that has helped many of the newbies get past the CDL written tests.
Over the last year the state of Ohio has changed from four answers to only three for each question. They have also made many changes to the correct answer, and have added questions that do not appear on our site. Since you are most likely in other states we would like you to help us update our online testing center for the next group of newbies. All that we ask is that if you do happen to use our site to study, take the written tests, and find a question that we do not have on our site or an answer that is different please post it here so that others may see. We will take all that are posted to add/note that there was a change in our question pool, so that the testing center can be better.
Within the next six months the entire question pool should be updated to our site to further help everyone.
Again some things that may have changed:

  • Number of Answers (use to be 4 in Ohio, now 3)
  • Correct answer to the question
  • New questions that do not appear on our site
  • Anything that you feel is important to be mentioned

Thank you in advanced for the help!

THAT! is an awesome site. Thank you for providing it. I have the Barrons Book and I also have downloaded your tests. and just when I thought I had all the answers, they change the tests. Go figure. If I run across any new stuff I will post it. Now I will be looking. Thanks again for providing such an informitive web site.

Answer:
I've already noted on this site as well as email sent to Crist that the answer to question #8 on General Knowledge Test #1 is wrong:
Which of these statements about backing a heavy vehicle is true?
a. Backing is always dangerous.
b. You should back and turn toward the driver's side whenever possible.
c. You should use a helper and communicate with hand signals.
d. All of the above are true.
The answer is "d" All of the Above; however, Crist has "a" as correct. This isn't so. (I just took the test and got it wrong because I went with Crist's answer. However, Crist is EXCELLENT over all, and they helped me tremendously.)
Thanks much.

Answer:
Yea Starkman, I thought that answer didn't jive with my local state book and there is one other question that didnt seem correct about driving a truck with HM
Charles

Answer:
I can't remember there being another question on Crist's site that was wrong, but I remember another site having a wrong answer. I emailed them, and they quickly responded and fixed it. Crist hasn't done that. I sure wish they would at least have acknowledged my email, but otherwise, it's a great site.

Answer:
so u can take the test online and it count for the real thing...like if u were in a class room? am i reading this right? how much is it and how do i sign up?

Answer:
Starkman,
We got your email, and we would change the answer, but it is a very hard thing to do, and the site has not yet heard the OK from the school itself. Our main goal at this time is to completely redo the online section, and update everything there. This update will be coming out in around six months, and the pool of new questions that we have (from here and our own students) will be added/changed.
Sorry that we have not yet replied to your email.
Onlyspoon458,
It is a place to practice for the real test; you have to go to your local BMV to take the test.
Thanks everyone for your support!

I have been using it for about two years or so. Recently I used the site to study for my HazMat. There was one question on the Alabama test that had a different answer then your site. It was the only one I got wrong. I will return to you site and see if I can find the question.
Again, your site is Great. Keep up the super work.

Answer:
I was looking at sample test questions from my local tech school and they show crist is correct on backing. Their answer it to "avoid backing whenever possible"
Another question I thought crist was right on is to test the parking brake when the vehicle it parked. The answer the tech school gave me is test the parking brake when the vehicle is moving slowly.
I will have to call them and see if their answer is a mistake
Charles

Answer:
Does anybody know the correct answer to when you check the park brake? Moving slowly or parked? I usally do it in park with my car and then press the gas a little. Hate to read the whole book again lol.
I called the tech school but the instructor is unavailable as usual
Charles

Answer:
You test the park brake when the truck is parked, like a tug test, I believe. The parking brake(s) is for holding the truck when it's parked, not stopping it when it's rolling. There's sometimes a significent delay, especially on trailer brakes, from the time you pull the button till the system dumps enough air to apply the parking brake. Service brakes respond in less than a second, and are designed to give you continous braking control -- you may decide to keep rolling a little more in that parking space, etc.
So I can't imagine any reason why you'd test the parking brake while the truck's rolling, unless you want to test how long it takes for them to set -- which seems irrelevant to any safety or driving situation you could encounter when you're rolling.
Even in the worst lock-down emergency stop, you'd NEVER pull the brake buttons till the truck's stopped, because once you pull those buttons, you've lost any control over your braking -- control you may need as the situation develops, and can't get back till the system re-charges when you push the buttons back in.

Answer:
Thanks Shuffler, thats what I thought and answered on the crist practice test and the tech school p test but the tech school test said the answer was when it was moving slowly. I think I will go with the when it is parked answer. The trainer hasnt returned my call--yet. He should cause all of his students will get the wrong answer forever on the exam that counts lol
