Does Millis or Roehl.....?
Question:
I am interested in getting onboard with a company that, at least on occassion, is known to make runs in and out of Southern California. Does Millis or Roehl make these kind of runs? Answer: These two companies stay East of the Rockies for the most part. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart. Answer: Roehl does pull loads out of Southern California and has a small terminal in Fontana, CA. But uturn is right - the majority of loads are east of the Rockies. Keep in mind that if you want to run west coast for Roehl you will have to stay out a minimum of about 14 days. You can't really run out west and make it back in 7 - 10 days. Once you are out there, there is no guarantee that you will get a direct run back to the house. Last time I went out to CA from WI (home), I ended up going to OR, then to GA, then back to WI to get home. Took 18 days - over 7,000 mi. Even though I might have gotten a direct back from OR, I didn't want to turn down a 2,700 mi run from OR to GA. Answer: Thank you for your replies uturn2001 and IBstrollin. I'm just interested in getting out to the Southern California (Ontario/Riverside) area 2,3,4 times per year. I moved out to Ohio a few years ago but my family is still out there on the left coast. My Mom is getting up there in years and I would like to visit her, if just for a couple hours, while I still have the opportunity. Can you understand where I'm coming from? [This message was edited by joehoos on June 30, 2003 at 22:47.] Answer: Unless the majority of their loads go there there is no certaintiy that you will ever see a certain part of the country even if you request a run to it. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart. Answer: Millis run mainlly east coast but they do go to CA now and again... I will try anything once.... Answer: If you are a new driver you won't see the west coast for a year. unless they changed their policy. After that you should be able to get at least 4 runs a year out west. Answer: Cruiser is right. The Roehl rule of thumb for west coast is 80-100,000 miles as a newbie and then with your DM approval. In the last year I went out to Southern CA twice and both times I was out 17 days plus. Normally I stay out 10 - 11 days and stay east of the Rockies. Answer: Thank you all for your input on my question. Answer: joehoos, we just moved from that area ourselves. We were up at Rimforest, just outside of Lake Arrowhead. You know, up on that mountain you can't see from the 10 due to smog? LOL We were wise to leave before we had to carry our own Oxygen tank to breath from Your misery is limited by the depth of your imagination. 1 Iron Dodge makes it. . .CUMMINS shakes it! www.TurboDieselRegister.com Answer: I remember those mountains well. I used to take lung burning mountain bike rides around Snow Summit (Big Bear) just about every weekend between late Spring and Fall. Between Winter and Spring I would ride around Barton Flats. I miss those fun rides but I don't miss the smog. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
