Question:
When you apply for a driving job, where do the companies get their info on your background, and Dmv report? I was woundering how accurate their info is when they do a search, and if the info is not correct how do you get it cleared.

Answer:
Most companies use DAC Services for a one stop background on MVR, Criminal, Credit, Vehicle Violations, past employers and dates, tickets, DUI etc. The trucking company typically calls your past three employers, some go further, trying to call all past employers. Unless DAC received wrongfull information from one of your past employers to smear your reputation, which sometimes happens, your DAC report is accurate.
You should always get your own copy of your DAC report, Credit report and MVR report before you apply for any Jobs. It's your responsibilty to verify all information is correct and is up to date. If you have something shady lurking somewhere in your background, they'll most likely find it.
As far as getting something cleared off a record, that depends on differant factors. You may or may not be able to get some things cleared. It would help if we knew what you needed cleared, then go with some advice offered.

Answer:
Most companies use DAC for drivers license and criminal. They also use DAC for employment reference from other trucking companies. For your work record they will call your past employers to varify your info. It's required by law.
When I first started driving I obtained a copy of my MVR and criminal record. I had a gross error on my criminal record and went through a process of getting it cleared. I got it corrected before I started applying. Waiting until after would/could mean being rejected. If you have questions get your own records first. Then you can be very accurate on your apps.
DAC won't have any record of you until it is requested by one of their member companies. Then they do a records search and add you to their data base. Get your MVR from where ever you have lived (states) in the past 5-7 years and criminal anyplace you think you might have one(if you have one).

Answer:
When applying for a commercial driving job the applicant must provide a complete 10 year work history.
Companies then must verify at least the last 3 years (of employment) if the applicant has no or limited driving experience and the last ten years if the applicants commercial driving experience goes back that far.
If in the past 3 years you have held non driving jobs or worked as a driver for a company that does not use DAC then the company that you are applying to will call those companies to verify your employment information. Otherwise they will probably contact DAC who will provide them with any and all info they have on you for the last ten years or so. DAC will also conduct a background check as far as your MVR and criminal record goes.
If you are applying to a NON-DAC company then the company will simply use the info you gave them and do thier own background checks.
I have a name not a number. I am not cheap but I am resonable.
Answer:
Before applying, make sure you have any legal matters, if any, that are pending cleared up BEFORE you submit any apps...
DAC will ensure that you are taken into custody in a non-intrusive and non-disruptive manner and thereby nulling any chance of employment with that company.
Don't believe me? Visit the DAC website...
