Millis Training In GA
Question:
Quick Question to anyone who can answer.? When do you take your CDL Skills test with Millis, is it: During Your Inital Training.. After Your Inital Training.. After your training on the road.. This is more than likley a DUH question, but I have heard so many diff stories, I wanted to get a second opinon, as it were...... START TRAINING ON JUNE 16TH AT Cartersvillle GA LOcation...... I will try anything once.... Answer: to get your CDL. If that is the case then you will be taking your CDL skills test after you complete your schooling and before you go on the road with a trainer. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart. Answer: Hello, You will have to get your Class A permit in the state you live in. Then you will go to class for 3 weeks. When you finish class you have 3 days of orientation, then you get set up with your trainer, 3 to 4 weeks into yor road training you should be taking your road test. The road test will be in your state location, or with Mike Millis in Black River Falls, WI. You will be in a motel with one other person, they pay for motel only ! There are two truck stops, and a couple of restaurants close by, a TA, and Pilot. You have to be with your trainer 5 weeks minimum EsterJ Answer: Yep, i got the CDL Drivers Permit last week. I had spoken to a friend who had gone with Allience Truck driving school in S.Atlanta.. He was doing his training over a period of a few weekends, He was being tested on various parts of his skill test as he went along...Thats why i had asked. So...does that mean the tester at GA is a third party tester for the state or part of the company trainers. Thanks for the pointers are you at he GA location. Whats your experience with Millis...I have heard nothing but good things about them.. I will try anything once.... Answer: Hey there Pogo Welcome to the board and welcome to the world of trucking. I attended the Millis school in GA and had a wonderful time. The instructors, Greg and Steve are really good guys and know their stuff. As the other posters has said, you will attend for 3 weeks, 3 days of orientation and 5 to 8 weeks with a trainer. Sometimes during the time with your trainer you will be able to take the CDL test. You can schedule it with your home state or take it with Mike Millis in Black River Falls. I chose to take it with Mike and obtained the WI CDL, kept it for 3 weeks and transferred it back to TN. This route may cost a little extra but that is the way I chose to do it, the examiners in Knoxville are real BEARS on the CDL test. Mike Millis is a third party examiner and is true to his craft, he will not pass you just because you are coming to work for him. During the year that I was there I have seen several people fail with him and have to continue with their trainer for additional time. Take it for wh at it is worth. I am sorry to say that I am no longer with Millis, but still value the experience that I received while there. I have several friends that are still there and have a wonderful relationship with my former trainer (HILLBILLY) from here in TN. We talk several times a day over the phone. I drive for United Cartage now and get home every weekend and don't have to go to or near Chicago Good luck to you on your new adventure and tell ole Greg and Steve that I said hello....
