Cressler and Barr Nunn
Question:
Anyone familiar with either of these 2 companies?, Ive heard good about Barr-Nunn but only from 1 source, and Cressler looks like a good company, but I have yet to talk to anyone that has any knowledge of them, Thanks, Ike Answer: Barr-Nunn is a pretty good outfit. I've met the owner a few times. See if you can find drivers and see what they say about them. The owner is a standup guy and from their website pay seems pretty decent. They mainly run east so you would have to like that. Find Fat Boy Bluz in the roundtable section he is from IA and may have more insight. Rumours about finances awhile ago seem to be overstated. Also check safestat on their safety rating before making a decision Answer: Thanks safety guy. I will check it out Ike Answer: Cressler is based out of Shippensburg, Pa. Cressler was bought out by Keen Transport, maybe 15 years ago. Mainly dry van and stepdeck trailers. i know a bunch of guys that have been there a while, several have been there over 20 years. 2 pay packages, mileage and percentage. up to you which one you want. fleet consists of mainly pete conventionals. equipment is pretty well maintained. cat 475hp, 13 speed tanny, jake. pretty much the same benefits you will find most places. kind of a laid back company. they have their good and bad qualities, same as everybody else. but they are stable. http://www.eatmorchikin.com/ Answer: Thanks, thats more info than I could have gotten from there website. I really am interested in finding out if they hire students. I want to call but afraid they may tell me to call back when im in school. Id like to have this nailed down before then. Ike Answer: Fatboybluz ain't got nothing good to say about Barr-Nunn. Run a search, you'll see his feelings. They are out of Granger, IA. about 17 miles from Des Moines area. I don't know a whole lot about them. I do know when I go by their terminal they always have a lot of empty tractors lined up (could implicate their difficulty to retain drivers). When I pulled van and went to grocery warehouses...I always sat right next to a Barr-Nunn truck (so you know what that tells you). A while back, a company I drove for bought 50 of their trailers---at the time rumor had it they were hurting for money. (just rumor, never substantiated) Thats about all I know. Last year there was a man and woman on here (Greybeard and Mrs. Greybeard) last I know they had gotten on their---never heard back from them though. Good luck. It's apparent this place is never going to change....then again; why should it? It gets the clientel it deserves. Bette Midler Answer: Thanks Whitedog, big help, Barr-nunn was a company I was leaning toward in the dry van side. The more i find out about TMC the better I like them. The search continues....
