need advice
Question:
ok me and another guy wnat to be team drivers neither of us have a cdl and one has no way to pay for a school any suggestions on companies, schools, truck leasing companies, or anything else. Answer: 1. Contact your local state employment office and see if you friend (or even you) might qualify for any type of grants or special funding to pay for driving school. 2. Contact training companies such as Swift, Schieder, PAM, Covenent (which might be a good one if you are serious about wanting to run teams) or CRST (same deal as with Covenant) and see which of these companies will hire both of you AND put you through a company paid school. In some cases you may still need to put some money down to attend and then pay the balance through completing a service contract, but it may be an option to you. Be sure to be honest with them that you are wanting to team drive with your friend when you talk to them. Also be sure to honestly answer ALL of their questions. 3. Stay AWAY from anything that says truck lease on it. They are rip offs 99.99999% of the time. 4. Contact a few of the driving schools in your general area and see what they may have to offer in way of financing, or tuition programs. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Answer: The first question you should consider is, "Could I live with this other person 24/7"? It isn't easy, even for married couples. Answer: I would suggest not getting involved with Covenant. In addition to their current problems (cash flow, repairing their fleet), they have a pretty nasty reputation and their drivers complain and complain..... Swift or Schneider might be better, such as they are. Answer: I would also move into a camping trailor maybe a 6 footer with your friend for a week than re evaluate how well you two really get along.Team driving is really really hard on friendships. You will learn this when you get with a trainer.Good Luck to you...Mike "I love You All!!
