Answer:
Wish I knew the answer to your question but I don't. Just want to say good luck to you and hope it works out well.

Answer:
I am pretty sure that it will be significantly less than with SNI;they seem to drag their feet on everything.
Answer:
Once you get that acceptance letter you can pretty much go anytime assuming there is an opening in the school, but since I think they have classes starting every week or every two weeks the longest you would have to wait would be two weeks.

Answer:
A agree. They probably will take you the first week you can get there.
Read the letter and accompanying material very carefully. It will probably contain new information regarding their terms and conditions, and that's why they're waiting till you've received it before scheduling your arrival. If there's anything you don't fully understand, or have questons about, clear it up by phone before grabbing your bags and heading over there. But be forwarned -- whatever the written material says will supercede anything you're told over the phone.
Good luck. Stay safe.

and while I can not speak for Shuffler, for me it comes from a variety of sources. From either having talked to current drivers of a lot of these companies, from having called and talked to a lot of these companies myself at one time or another, to having worked for some of these companies, and last, but not least from visiting the web sites many of these companies have posted.

I very rarely post here but will lurk once in a while to see what some of these Veteran Driver Experts will say to newbies to try and impress them I guess...
The truth of the matter is that you have a PRE-HIRE letter that just tells you that you are being considered for employment. It is not a job guarantee. It does not give you employment information in detail. You can ring their phones off the hook from now until doomsday and they will most likely tell you feel-good info or tell you that it will be covered in detail during orientation. They are not going to run your paper until you get there.
If it was a letter of hire, it would most likely give you instructions where to take your physical and whiz test before you get there. And I haven't seen any of those in years.
All the information and surprises/heartbreaks will come at orientation. Make sure their song and dance is the one that you are going to feel most comfortable with, because once they get you there, you may well find their dismeanor a little different. Make sure you have enough money in your pocket for a return home if some of their enlightenments come as a surprise to you.
I am not being negative, but truthful. All of these training carriers are basically the same. You might as well bite the bullet and ride it out for at least a year. Looking over the fence repeatedly will only hurt your career in the long run.

Answer:
Bedspread,
Thank you for being truthful with the matter.

Answer:
Don't read my rantings wrong sir. From previous posts' here, MILLIS seems to be about the best training carrier going. I just have trouble with all the lies and bullshiat you will hear here.
You want to be a driver? All well and dandy. Just go there with the proper attitude and you will do OK. Just try for a good work and safety record and things will dramatically improve for you down the road.
And again you might prove me wrong and become the traffic director there. It is all what one makes of a situaion...

Answer:
in that all employment offers with trucking companies are conditional. In this case your offer is conditional based on the abitility to complete the driving school within the limits Millis have set, pass the drug tests, all the while maintaining or possibly improving your driving record (such as having tickets drop off) and crimminal records. (It will be the same with any newbie hiring company in your case.)
However the question here is not "What does the letter mean". The question here was how long will it take to get rolling.
As far as having your background info checked. Many, not all but many, run that info before giving a prehire. Then when an applicant gets to orientation the offer is based on being able to pass the physical, drug test, and road test.

Answer:
"All the information and surprises/heartbreaks will come at orientation." Thats the truth. Most company recruiters have this amazing way of leaving out certain details. They don't really lie to you they just conveniantly dont tell you things. If you don't know to as they wont tell. Then during orientation these little surprises pop up. The hope is they have you there with less chance of you leaving.
As far as I can tell you really don't even have a prehire yet. You simply have an acceptance letter to attend their school. The hiring process wont take place until after you have finished driving school. Hopefully they will have finished the back ground stuff while your training. Maybe they do it differently, I dont know.
I would also think Millis is one of the better choices from the testimonies of others.
I'm sure they'll take you when the next opening arrises. I personally have no idea if they have a waiting list or not. Best to call and ask them.

That's why it's important to read it VERY CAREFULLY!!!
It may sound like a done deal, but contains a phrase like, "....and upon copletion of our orientation program, will be assigned a trainer..."
The recruiter may say on the phone, "yea, you're all set, we'll see you on the 26th and we'll get you going...", when in fact you may be disqualified in the physical, or when they re-check your criminal/DMV, etc., or any number of other reasons...
Stuffs: In ANY business dealing, the written word supercedes the spoken. There's a lot of BS in trucking recruiting -- we all know that -- so NEVER take the words you hear over a telephone above what they've actually promised you in writing.
Read that "acceptance" or "pre-hire" or "job offer" letter very carefully.

Answer:
Hey guys thanks for the heads up. I should get it tommorrow in the mail. I will read it very closely. I might even post what it says.
