Question:
1.I heard that points only stick on your liscence if you recieved them in your home state,I find this very hard to believe. 2.What exactly happens to you when you wind up in a parkway you shouldn't be in,assuming you notice this b4 you go under any low underpasses (I realise thats part of pre planning a trip and should not happen)Do you get fired, points on your liscence? Answer: Your driving record is all there on the DAC for everyone to see no matter where you got the ticket. Keep in mind also, I review apps everyday where drivers list their tickets (or fail to) thinking that it being adjudicated by going to driver school wipes it out. It may take away the points but it is still on the DAC. Sometimes I see it real close to falsifying the app. when you don't list it. This depending on the overall picture of what I am seeing. Keeping a (reasonably) clean driving record is vital to a drivers future. How many "points" you recieve for any type of traffic violation depends on your home state. It is up to the state that issued your liscense how many points, if any, they will issue for a conviction. So lets say you live in Tennesee and you get an speeding ticket in NJ and are convicted of it. The ticket might carry 3 points in NJ but in TN it would only carry 2 points. Since you are from TN you would get 2 points on your lisc. The state that issues the citation however is the one that determines the actual fine. I have heard there are a few states that do not officially recognize traffic citations from other states but most states do. (This only means that they will not add points to your lisc for a traffic fine in other states. You still would have to pay any fines upon conviction) Also keep in mind that there are federal laws that states must abide by for CDL holders. (Note the states used are just for demonstative purpose. I do not know the actual point system for these states) 2.What exactly happens to you when you wind up in a parkway you shouldn't be in,assuming you notice this b4 you go under any low underpasses (I realise thats part of pre planning a trip and should not happen)Do you get fired, points on your liscence? Once again this would depend on your company policy, your home state, exactly what the state you screwed up in would want to do (I.E. Impound the truck etc). More than likely though the worst that would probably happen is you would be given a fine for being on a restricted route annd escorted to the nearest exit. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Every state is supposed to send the info to your home state when you have a CDL! Years ago, many states just took the money. Because it was to hard to send the info! 2.What exactly happens to you when you wind up in a parkway you shouldn't be in,assuming you notice this b4 you go under any low underpasses (I realise thats part of pre planning a trip and should not happen)Do you get fired, points on your liscence? New York, you get a big, big large fine! Points? I don't know. However, you failed to obey a traffic sign when you got on the Parkway! Sooo, they can write you for that one!! Answer: Thanks for the advice. Answer: I received a speeding ticket 2.5 years ago in Florida and went to traffic school. The school does save you from a personal insurance rate hike. The ticket was supposed to go on my license but with no points. It is not on my license at all. Somehow the school erased the ticket from my records. Not what is supposed to happen but it did. A couple of months ago I had a ticket in North Carolina. I almost ran the scale on 95 but instead hit the signal and brakes, changed lanes and went in. The scale cop thought I should have just ran it then stopped. A 300 dollar fine. He stated he would have ticketed me. He gave me a ticket for "failing to look before stopping/starting/changing lanes". A very minor ticket in N.C.. usually issued when theres an accident. The fine was only 10 dollars. Only 2 points on your record. It didn't seem right so I called Florida DMV and found out in Florida it falls under the wreckless endangerment classificatioin and carries 4 points on your record. I opted for a speeding ticket for doing 74 in a 70. Only 2 points in Florida. In Florida tickets will carry the points assigned by the state of Florida not by the issueing state. It's wise to always investigate tickets and not just pay them. As far as being on the wrong road such as in NY where it is clearly marked I have a feeling it could be a very exspensive mistake. Although it can be easy to get on the wrong road, been there and done that. Try negotiating down town Bronx at 8am.
