C-1 Truck Driving School
Question:
I just wanted to post that C-1 in St. Louis is a great school! the cost is average $3200.00 but they have lifetime job placement assistance, small classes and 7 or 8 trucks! It is not big time or the fanciest facilities but the instructors are genuine and there are guys there who have stayed extra weeks just because they didn't feel ready! I think that puts them in the top in my book! My class started out with ten students but by the end of the week they had weeded out all but me and one other. This resulted in lots of drive time! anyway good luck to those who may be considering school! FUNYGRL5 Answer: Got a web address on this school You can't get there from here, but, where ever you go there you are. Answer: C-1 truck driving school Only two things I know of are infinite. I am too. What companies are you looking at? TimThis is USAF 2T2 and I approve this message. Answer: Just head west out of St Louis on I70. Cant miss it. If you get to Kingdom City you went way too far. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Answer: I hope they're not affiliated with c-1 from indianapolis. They promised alot of things (including guaranteed placement) but never came through. After my husband graduated (top of his class and 2 weeks before everyone else) They made him wait for 4 weeks always saying he was starting his "guaranteed" job next week. Finally he got sick of waiting and took a job on his own. They claimed he broke his contract (read the fine print) and charged him almost double what the school was supposed to cost. Answer: Map of Strafford,Mo.(click here) Approx the 88/89mm on I-44.(if you are heading East...it is the exit BEFORE the Weigh Station...heading West...it is the exit AFTER Weigh Station.) There's 1 or 2 fuel stops at that exit. ------------------------------------------------- According to the website.... The school is in STRafford,Mo...NOT...STafford,Mo. Answer: Christopher Welch, president of C1, admitted his enrollees often are "on their last dime," but he defended his program as a viable option for anyone serious about a truck driving career. http://www.southbendtribune.com/99/jul/071499/local_ar/205183.htm http://www.c-1truckdrivertraining.com/programs.asp Answer: hello! Sorry to get back so late! C1 is on Hall road off of Adelaid Exit heading into St. Louis on I-70. It is right on the waterfront! As to other comments about it being connected to other C1 schools I am not sure! I think if you have realistic expectations going in you will be happy! I passed my licensing test today! and will be starting with CRST on Monday! E-mail me if you have any other questions!! FUNYGRL5 Answer: I wanted to add that this branch of C1 just opened last October! I think it is important for people to know that yes a company may pay for your training but it is never really free! You do sign a contract to stay with them for a year. If you leave earlier you pay the difference of the loan! That is only good business. There are programs out there to help pay for school also, such as unemployment. With these programs you can choose your company from a wider selection, although almost every company wants at least a year of experience. Therefore I say it is worth it to have the company pay for school in return for a lower pay to start! Any good apprentice program will start you at a much lower pay anyway.Well I just wanted to put my two cents in! FUNYGRL5 Answer: Btw I am in Hannibal. I put mo/ ill because I am on the border. You might also look at Troy Refrigerated I read a good article about them and their starting pay for recent grads is not bad except during training month it is straight 350.00 a week.! You should give them a call if you are within 90 miles of Troy wich is just on the outskirts of St. Louis. FUNYGRL5 Answer: Did the recruiter @ CRST tell you during the 4 week training the pay is .11 cpm, after training its .22 cpm, after 6 months its .26 cpm, and at 1 yr its .29 cpm for all miles driven? And the team splits the gross pay/total miles, i.e. 5000mi x .22cpm equals $1100. Each driver's pay before taxes would be $550. Is this their pay procedures for team drivers? The recruiter said the miles are consistent(5-6000wk) and mainly drop/hook loads, so that may be the trade-off for starting @ a lower cpm. But the pay gets better because 6 mo @.26cpm and 1yr @.29cpm if your team can average 6k miles a week then you can make some decent money. Answer: HEY JOHNNYP! No, my paperwork reads that it is .18 cents during training then it is .22 cents until 6 months then it is .29 cents until 1 year. Everything else you said is correct. Their average delivery is 1700 miles so their teams do average higher miles! I try to look into things before I ever sign up for things , so I made sure to see it in writing!I really think the pay is decent for a starting position. After 1 year it is.33 cents a mile.
