A few things you might want to remember
Question:
Always unhook your air and electrical lines before pulling away from a dropped trailer.
Also helps if you remember to dolly down before pulling out from under.
A tire passing you when you're the only vehicle out there is a fair indication you have a problem.
Putting tape over warning lights does not cure whatever ails the truck.
Trucks tend to run better if you keep the oil and water at proper levels.
Double check your trailer number---before you end up in Ohio with a trailer bound for Texas.
Minor things, but can ruin your day. -->

Answer:
Double check your paperwork. I had a shipper give me the wrong BOL. I had to sit in Carlisle,Pa. til the other driver caught up with me. Luckily we were headed in the same general direction and had identical loads.
Outta here

Answer:
Make sure you read the address on the bill of lading completely! Had a driver grab a load and head out. Got to Mankato, couldn't find the address (as per directions).
I guess Mankato Kansas is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Mankato Minnesota! --> --> -->

"The feel of the wheel delivers me, from a life where I don't wanna be." (from Joe Stampley)

Answer:
Make sure you know your state abbreviations. I knew a guy who got a load to Canton, Missouri. (which is somewhere north of St. Louis)
I mean, the state abbreviation for Missouri is M.I., right?

His dispatcher called him, and then he called me back!

That's along the lines of what I was going to say.
Are you going to:
Perry,Okla...or...Perry,Oregon?
Ontario,Ca...or..Ontario,Oregon...or...Ontario,Canada?
Oak Grove,Mo...or...Oak Grove,Ky?
*BTW, there are (2) Oak Groves in Missouri.(1-is located on I-70, exit#37...1-is located I-44, about the 220 yrd stick.)
I think you get my msg...
*ALWAYS Know WHERE you're going.*
Which is Why it's a good idea to *CALL the Customer for DIRECTIONS.*(BEFORE heading out) -->

Answer:
Also get to know your directions. Lefts and rights are okay but there are times when its better to know whether to head north or south or east or west.
Never, never, never forget to keep a check on all sides of the truck when backing. If in doubt-- get out and look.

Answer:
Oak Grove is one of the more popular town names in the U.S.
Always check the BOL to verify the address.
Also, when backing, do not get so wrapped up on watching the end of your trailer that you neglect the trailers beside you. I crunched a mirror today. A short lapse of concentration is usually costly.

Answer:
I can appreciate that idea of watching everything. At a receivers in November, I was concentrating on missing a group of cars, a flag pole and a fence on the left side of my truck and completely forgot about the yellow pole on the right side of the truck. I scraped the sleeper to the tune of $2500 and an entry on my DAC. It was an expensive lesson about paying attention. Fortunately it didn't cause any damage to anyone or anything else but my truck and my pride.
Something else to consider when driving are the yellow cautionary signs on the entrance and exit ramps. I was taught that those signs advise a safe speed for four wheelers and we need to slow down below them. I do. How slow I go depends on the load I am hauling. I've seen more than a couple of trucks laying over on their sides at an entrance or exit ramp. It always reminds me to take care and take my time.

Answer:
Pawtucket is in RI
Pawcatuck is in CT.
New Milford CT is not near Milford CT.
same with Caanan and New Caanan not even close to each other.
Parkways in the northeast are for cars, not 13'6" tall trucks or flatbeds either, just cars.
Toll booths, you must have a ez-pass to use the ez-pass lanes, traffic is moving faster in that lane because people have ez-pass and don't have to stop,if you ain't got one,get in the big long line and wait.
In Canada the sign that looks like it might be a truck wash,is for a weight station.
GA scalehouse's have 2 lanes and an arrow pointing you to the lane they want you to use,the one that points to the rear of the building is sending you to the platform scale, ignore the sign that says maintain 30mph,you have to stop in the rear and can maintain 30mph only if the arrow points you to the front side of the building.
Toll booth manners, whoever starts moving first out of a ajoining lane, gets to go first, don't matter if your empty,it ain't a drag race, you will live untill they get their 80,000lbs up to speed,I swear it won't kill you to wait your turn.
