Rhoel, Millis, or SNI,,,some help choosing
Question:
I am (prehired) with these 3 companies.I have decided between these 3 because they offer training. I know the basic info on these places pay, home time etc..talked to them all on the phone. I would like some info on these companies from someone besides a recruiter(salesman). Good and bad news is all welcomed. Thanks Answer: I've never drvn for Any of the carriers listed, however... My ex-boyfriend is an O/O for Roehl...he's been with them for a while now & has No complaints. Use TruckNet's "Search" Feature(click here) to view past posts about each of these carriers.(do a seperate search for each carrier.) You can also go to http://www.pumpkindriver.com for more info about Schneider. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IMO, All 3 of these carriers are good choices. Just try to choose the one that comes the closest to Your Needs & Priorities.(and if you still can't decide...go with the one that's Closest to the area in which you live.) Answer: I niether have driven for any of these three companies but if it were me I would concentrate on Roehl and Millis. I have applied to SNI three times in the past several years and all three times I was treated badly by the recruiting staff, and I have heard and seen too many "horror" stories about this company to be able to reccomend it to anyone. While you will hear bad things about any company the over all complaints coming from Roehl and Millis camps have been fairly few and far between and mild in comparison to many other companies that hire newbies. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Answer: i have just completed the first week of training with millis. the school so far is great. i have talked to several drivers at the terminal and they seemed happy with millis. most of them are getting between 2500 and 3600 miles per week. they keep their equipment in great shape. also i didn't see many drivers waiting around for loads. hope this helps Answer: I have now driven 8 months after completing Millis school in Trenton. I AM A HAPPY GUY! I am getting plenty of miles, the company has stepped up to the plate a couple of times when I did not expect it. I get along with my dispatcher and he treats me good, I take some crappy loads but then i get great ones, it all washes out in my favor. When I researched companies I found Millis to be at the top as far as pay was concerned. PLUS I am getting plenty of miles. I am 48 years old and have had a couple of jobs well a few.... ANYWAY, so far this is one of the best as far as the company being consistant and decent with it's employees. I could go on but I think you should give Millis a very close look. Some people find fault as if it were buried treasure. Answer: I appreciate the info so far. Thanks,,,keep it comin' Answer: I quit them in January (personal reasons) and had a conversation with them a week or so ago, I may be going back. My quitting was no fault of the company, or the job I was performing, took them by surprise. Sometimes things happen in life, and my leaving was the only way I could correct it. Roehl orientation was 3 days, we were put up in the local Motel 8 (nice), fed lunch, and given a voucher for supper to a choice of 2 restaurants in town. During orientation half a day was classroom, physicals, rules, logs, map reading, route planning, safety etc.. The other half of the day was on the range to show how much we knew. Believe me, not all schools teach the same, one guy from a school in Texas asked me what a jake brake was, said they never said nothing about them in his class, it showed, he was eager to learn, but by far was the worst in the class! Trainer picked me up on Friday night and off we went. My trainer was excellent, a true credit to the industry! There are some bad eggs in the bunch, the ones that do it for the $$$. I talked with one driver who was coming off from his time with trainer, told me a bunch of stories, I asked him how he graded the trainer, he told he gave the guy all good marks! Well DUH, how is the company suppose to get rid of these types if you don't have the 'nads to say so, only complain to everyone else! Next step was with another new driver for 20 days, that went ok. I think it's ok to go with another newbie, still new but have to work things out without having mother hen right there to do it for you! We came out of it great, no late deliveries, and most important no close calls! Then was put in my own truck....finally! Now you can make some $$$ Course then I had to find all the turns, read all the signs, do all the trip planning, do all the backing, oh yeah...and all the driving...on my own! Myself I think the key was communication and a great trainer! No matter who you choose, there is good and bad with ALL companies just ask! I've rambled enough, good luck with your choice, let us know how it turns out, seems like a good bunch of people at this site, glad I found it! Drive on! bandit58 Answer: I like Roehl so far. Graduated their school in January and have been wearing out tires since then. The do what the say they will, they require you to run legal, and they seem to treat drivers well. Good luck with whoever you choose. As the past becomes the future unfolds Answer: Josh, I start for SNI next monday, I looked at several, Werner, Swift, Rohel, but I choose SNI - hey I may have made a mistake, but ya gotta get that first year done somewhere and from everyone I talked to, the SNI drivers seemed to get thier miles easier than the others. But after my 11 days of training I will let ya know it went. I plan on taking the laptop but have had problems with the modem lately. If I get it working I'll let ya know as I go. Rowdy Pumpkin Drivers Rule!! Answer: Thanks everyone for the help so far.I have talked to these 3 on the phone again. I am starting to lean toward Millis. More info would be great.
