Question:
I currently hold a Pennsylvania CDL Class B with an Air Brake restriction. Do I just have to take the air brake written test to get this restriction removed or do I also have to take a test in a vehicle with air brakes??

All you will need to do is take the written test if you are not upgrading to a Class A liscense.

I believe you will have to road test in a vehicle with air brakes.
Air brakes have some unique operating charactistics and you will probably have to demonstrate knowledge of their operation.

In Florida you would have to take a driving test. Air brakes are two part, knowledge and skill.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I just got off the phone with the PA DMV and the woman said that I would have to take the written and a road test.
