Time zones?
Question:
I've been wondering how everyone deals with the constant time zone changes when driving OTR.
Say you load at point A, in pacific time. Then you have to be at point B to unload at whatever eastern time, whatever day (any time zone really, just an example).
How do you deal with the constant changes?
Do you just leave your watch or clock at a certain time and go from there? Do you always change it to the zone you are in to make sure your load times and unload times are accurate? Or do you just figure it out in your head and write it down?
Just a curiosity question.

Answer:
your appt time is on your recivers time zone. say u leave tx mon, u have an appt time of 8am on wed in la,ca that 8am is on ca time zone. not tx. hope that makes sense to ya. always use the time for the time zone u are in, just not on ur logs!!
Answer:
Same with clock in truck. The folks I'm leased to are on mountain time and I live in Pacific zone. With only 4 time zones to deal with its not too tough to keep track of appointments.
I call all my shippers/recievers anyway, to confirm appt. times and directions. So if I'm confused about their time I ask. Frequently confused anyway especially with Az. and In.

Answer:
I wear two watches. Log time, california time on my left. And time zone I'm in on my right wrist. Drives me crazy.

Answer:
Thanks for the responses.
I thought about it and generally knew there is many ways you could go about keeping time, just wondering about each person specifically. Since not everyone does the same thing.
In my opinion, I think it would be best to go by the receivers time soon as you pick up, until you deliver. To some it might get confusing though.

Answer:
I just use home terminal time zone. I add/subtract time zones in my head. After awhile you get used to it. P/u and delivery times are made on the time zone their in. Times zones are on the atlas. Just follow the red dotted line.

Answer:
Yeah, I know where each time zone begins and ends.

Answer:
My watch and the clock on the radio I leave set for my home time zone (the one I log in) and then I set my alarm clock to the time zone my next appointment is in.
What really will drive you crazy though are the states that have two time zones (like Kentucky and Tennesee), or that do not follow the rest of the country in moving the clock forwards and back with the time of the year (like Indinana).
If in doubt what time zone a particular place is operating in either give them a call and ask or assume that the are on the "later" time zone (IE not sure if they are in Eastern or Central time deliver like they are on Eastern time) that way the worst that will happen is that you are an hour early.
I have a name not a number. I am not cheap but I am resonable.
Answer:
Thirty days hath September . . .
No, I mean, a bird in two hats is better than a bush . . .
No, that's not it either.
Okay, take Montana, subtract California, and it should be about, oh, say, three o'clock or tooth-hurt?
Gads! Passing all my CDL tests (and endorsements, mind you) isn't even close to the pain in the rear this time zone stuff's gonna be!

Answer:
I have 2 clocks in the truck,1 set to home time and one to local. I also have an alarm clock in the bunk that has dual time zones.
