DAC
Question:
Well everybody, heres a bit-o-info. Just got my DAC report back today. Verrry interrrresting. For the most part its clean. The strange part is the comment on a non-DOT recordable accident/incident.
Their definition of an accident/incident is "the equipment was involved in an accident or damaged while assigned to the driver regardless of fault"
This is black/white per the report.
I have one (1) reported.
I have none reported for DOT recordable accidents.
The BS thing is that the accident was caused by someone else. FenderBender is what I had. So, because it is stated as such, explaining to possible job prospects is easy.
I wholeheartdly recommend everyone get a DAC report for themselves. DAC
Now that I have a hard copy, I can easily show the prospect beforehand and explain if asked. Instead of them second guessing and throwing out the app. Knowledge is ammo.

I agree 100% rookiehelper. There should also be instruction on how to go about refuting anything on your DAC report as well. This, in turn, will be included on all reports ordered by carriers. There are two sides to every story, make sure yours is heard.

Answer:
I review apps. and DACs everyday. The part of the DAC you refer to, reportable accidents/incidents is so vague I pay very little attention to it if there is only 1, unless the driver was only with the company for 1 month. If a driver has been with a company for any length of time you can expect a couple of incidents here.
What I mainly look for on a DAC is. Length of service. Does it match (close) to what the driver put on the app.? Did he show it at all? (what is he hiding if he didn't?)
If it shows eligible for rehire Yes, or yes upon review I consider that good. If it shows no-rehire or "personal contact requested" it throws up big red flags.
Also on the MVR, so many cases where the driver went to driver school and thinks the ticket wont show. You may not have points against you but it does show. If you say you had 1 moving violation in the last 7 years but I see 5, it really bothers me. If you say 5 and I see 5, but most are several years ago and I see improvement (and truth) I and the insurance company can work with you. If you have a bad record on DAC and MVR nothing can help. If you have a borderline record and are truthful about it, we are more likely to work with you.
Keep in mind this is the way I do things and don't necessaraly speak for others.
thanks,

Answer:
I think that's a "FAIR" way to do it.
I like the idea of taking each app on an Individual basis.
