Question:
Hi... I graduate from driving school in about 4 weeks. I put in an application to Schaffer primarily because of your posts, ie...northeast regional. It seems like you run through or near Pittsburgh fairly often (many customers in the 'burgh or the Cranberry area). Is that right?...because that's my home. Also, does Schaffer have any special policy on taking a refridgerated load home on the weekend? Like where you can park, etc? Does the refridgeration unit run all weekend? Thanks...Tony Answer: Sorry took me so long to answer, just saw this now....but yes we have at least a couple cranberry customers, butler ref. meats in harmony, couple places in erie (not too far) and some in city of pgh also.... as for taking load home they want you to buy a kingpin lock at orientation ($80) or you can get your own....for when you drop, but i've taken loads home refrigerated quite often, more loads when home than empty, just check on the trlr. if you can for the temp. time to time and use your best judgement......as long as you have what is a secure place to park rig together, or drop with the lock in secure place and take tractor home they are pretty cool with it. by the way i lived for 30 years in franklin park (rte. 910 wexford exit on 79)...mom still lives there in bradford woods love the burgh and hope always to move back someday if ever possible... you will do great here living in that area lots of freight there and even more that you can get thru house during week....lots from ohio area back towards east pa right thru that area..... make sure tell craig in recruiting greg smith sent ya truck #82348....hope it works out for you. btw....last week got thru house for 1/2 day and home whole weekend plus 2,700+ miles.
