Wal Mart
Question:
Where are the best and easiest Walmarts to get into for shopping? I have a few favorites of my own, like I-40, exit 123 in OK. Where are there more good ones? One time I stopped in TN at the Walmart on I-24, ex 152. I went to the service desk and asked for an "escort." They gave me an employee who helped me find everything on my list. It saved me a lot of time. According to Charles Kuralt, "Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel across the country from coast to coast without seeing anything." Semisweet Answer: There is a Walmart with easy access in Commerce, GA. There is a T/A at the exit, and Walmart is about a 3 minute walk from the T/A. You can also drive there big parking lot with traffic light. These are off highway I85. Walmart is east of the T/A. EsterJ Answer: Atoka, OK.....Wal Mart is right next to the Love's Truck Stop. Located right off Hwy 69/75. Casper, WY....Wal Mart is right behind the Flying J. Located on I-25 on the east side of town. Pico Rivera, CA..No Truckstop around, but there's warehouse complexes just off Washington Blvd. and Rosemead. There's truck parking on side streets. Don't park your truck on side streets on Saturday nights. The cop follows the street sweeper, putting tickets on anyhting that don't move. Answer: I stop at the Wal-Mart at Mountain Home, Idaho I-84 exit-95. It's a 24-hour "Supercenter" with groceries, etc., and I pass it at least every couple weeks. Same exit as that Pilot that burned down a few years ago - open again. There's an old K-Mart across the street. Wal-Mart put them out of business, but trucks use their parking lot alot. There's a McDonalds right there too, There's a couple other Wal-Marts across this stretch. Answer: In Tampa Fl. on i-75 dale mabry exit right off the interstate and in St. Pete Fl. 1-75 and gandy exit then 3 miles to u.s 19. big parking lot Answer: Say, that's a good idea, asking for an escort! I'll have to keep that in mind. Thanks, For the road, Starkman Answer: My home town here (Mattoon, IL) at exit 190B off I57 in Illinois. If you want to actually go into the Wal Mart lot just make a left at the first light, go to the end and turn right, and then right again to bring you back around to the Wal Mart entrance so you can make a left into the lot (good for daytime stops there) or just go to the second light and make a left and then a right into the first drive, or better yet just park across the street in the old Kmart lot and walk across. Effingham, IL I57/70 exit 160. Exit like you are going to go to the TA but go on down to the light by McDonalds and make a right. Beloit, WI I90/39 (same exit as the Pilot). All of these are 24 hour Supercenters that are fairly truck friendly. I have a name not a number. I am not cheap but I am resonable. Answer: I've delivered to many WalMart distribution warehouse locations. Got screwed at every one. So I don't shop at WalMart. Won't go into their stores. Hope I put a hurtin to their profit margin... Answer: I would say about 7 out of 10 Wal Marts you can get in with a trk. Just look left or right if you can get in make a u turn and go right on in. If you dont want to do that keep going you will run into another in about 30 miles. Small towns are the best the havent gotten around to making them trk proof yet. Answer: West Memphis,Ark=I-40, exit# 276( 24hr SuperCenter...south side of Interstate) When they 1st built this store there was Designated Trk Parking & Beautiful landscaping... but, do to the fact that trkrs kept using the WRONG entrance/exits & kept Running Over the Shrubs, plants, and lawn... Wally, decided to just take OUT the shrubs & landscaping & just concrete the whole area. They also put up low clearance bars to make sure trkrs did NOT park in the 4wheeler area. ----------------------------------------------------------- Springfield,Mo.= I-44, exit# 77( 24hr SuperCenter...south side of Interstate) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Perry,Ok.=I-35, exit# 186, then (2)miles east.(this is NOT a supercenter...it's just a SMALL store that close at 9pm. ) ----------------------------------------------------------- Maryville,Mo.= Hwy 71(south side of Town & West side of Hwy....24hr SuperCenter ) ------------------------------------------------------------ Winslow,Az.=I-40, exit# 253(North side of Interstate, Walking Distance from the Pilot trkstp that is next door...this is NOT a supercenter...regular store that close at 9pm. ) --------------------------------------------------------------- Warrenton,Mo.=I-70, extit# 193 (North side of Interstate....NOT a supercenter....regular store that close at 9pm ) ----------------------------------------------------------------- These are just a few that I can think of off the top of my head.(I have them all written down in my notebook, but I can't seem to find it at the moment.) [This message was edited by choclit snda on October 06, 2002 at 23:19.] Answer: The Wal-Mart in Ft.Stockton,Texas.Just off I-10 and a few miles from the Truck Stop is easy to get a truck into and there is a great BBQ restaurant between the Wal-Mart and the Truck stop. Answer: I-680 Fort Street exit... Wal-Mart on the west side of the interstate. Always has several 18-wheelers in the lot. You can overnight there also! Answer: I-70 and US.63 south, south of the interstate plenty of big truck parking (Wal-Mart Suercenter and a Sam's Club Answer: I can't go into Wally World without dropping about $100 at their register. No wonder they like trucks parked in their lots! This is great! I regularly stop at the one in NE at Lexington, exit 253, I think. It's not a supercenter, but access is easy. It's right across the street from IBP, wouldn't you know it? I'm putting little sticky dots on my atlas, some for designated fuel stops, some for Walmart locations. Trip planning will be a breeze when I'm thru. I got a big laugh last week when I showed a trainer my system I'm working on. He called me ORGANIZED!! Yeah, right! Little does HE know!! I'm WORKING on getting organized, but am not there yet. Finally came to a realization, a revelation, an epiphany: Organization ISN'T an event - It's a Lifestyle! My lifestyle simply doesn't outwardly reflect yet the inner workings of my best organizational plans. But it's getting there. Semisweet Answer: CookieMan2 i feel the same way about Walmart Distribution Centers & been boycotting the stores for 4 yrs. The one up at Rome,NY treated me well but every other one i been to treated a driver like dirt. one in Iowa told me there was no telephone there i could use to call dispatch for the special number they require (i was new to Laker Express & they didnt tell me i needed the number). One in NC didnt allow a driver to park on their premises waiting for an MT. I witnessed a driver turned away because he was a half hour early for his appointment at another one.
