What is the best hours for a Newbie ????
Question:
I finished my schooling finally !!! After about 7 weeks of school and out with the trainer, I just finished up today and will get my truck assigned to me Monday. My question is, what would you recommend to a newbie as far as driving times ? I will be running solo and my company is really pushing hard to not have solo drivers driving between 12 am and 6 am. What is a good general rule of thumb as to what times to drive for a newbie that is solo and I know alot depends on the load. Appreciate any info. by the way my school was C.R. England Pavement Pounder Answer: PAVEMENT POUNDER...I PERFER TO DRIVE AT NIGHT..LESS TRAFFIC.......YOU WILL LEARN TO DRIVE THE HOURS NEEDED AND TO SLEEP WHEN YOU CAN.......YOU WILL FIND THAT YOUR TRUCK WILL BE MOVING ALL TIMES OF THE DAY......AFTER THE FIRST TIME SITTING AT A SHIPPER FOR 8 HOURS..U WILL LEARN THAT U STILL HAVE TO DELIVER ON TIME..... Answer: The rule of thumb is that you will find and adapt to what your body requires as time goes on. Some of us old greybeards have (over time) found that night driving suits us. It takes a while for the body rhythems to adjust. Take it easy and be aware that there will be times that you don't feel all that tired, but fatigue could be setting in. You will have to adjust for delivery times, but the best advice I can give is drive when you are rested and sleep when you are tired. (regardless of time of day) good trucking and be safe out there Answer: It is: 1. An individual thing. Some people prefer to drive at night when possible due to less traffic, easier to get into the truck stops during the day, scales normally closed, etc. Other just cant seem to get adjusted to it, or there eyes have a hard time seeing at night, whatever and are safer driving during the day. 2. Your loads and log book pretty much dictate when you drive and when you sleep. If you are doing an OTR or regional run. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Answer: Quote: I will be running solo and my company is really pushing hard to not have solo drivers driving between 12 am and 6 am That is because 3/4 of your loads are going to be getting unloaded between these hours, the other 1/4 left will be picked up during these hours... my husband was with CRE for a few years ............................. http://pages.zdnet.com/dfunzy/wargame3.html Answer: Good luck at CRE and be safe..... ............................. http://pages.zdnet.com/dfunzy/wargame3.html Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
