Question:
that new employees are to take a HAZMAT TEST?
Thank You

Answer:
However it may be a condition of employment. In which case he must take it and pass or move on. Its a good thing to have anyway, so why not get it? Hope this helps.

Answer:
If you have the endorsment on your CDL and its time for you to renew you will have to take the haz-mat test to keep that endorsment.

Answer:
If you have hazmat on your cdl, each time you renew, you retest for hazmat. In Texas this is the
only test you take again. Well almost. The eye
exam. I will have to renew mine next year. Time to study soon.

Answer:
Some companies want you to have it for the "JUST IN CASE " senaireo.
Also helps get a load at times if you have it over sitting for a couple of days waiting for another load thats not HAZ MAT.

Answer:
that all trucking companies that haul haz mat to ensure that all employees involved in this are fully trained, and that there is documentation that this training is done a min. of every two years.
If the test you are referring to is being given by the company then this is what it is all about.
Other than that then every CDL holder will have to take the state hazmat test every "X" amount of years to maintain the endorsement on his/her liscence. How long the Hax mat endorsement is good for varies somewhat from state to state.

Answer:
So I was off by one year. -->
This is due to every employer I have ever driven for did the training at time of hire and every two years there after for each employee. Guess they figured better to get it done early and more often than required which when dealing with all the rules and regs concerning hauling haz mat is a good idea in my book.

Answer:
how come people won't read the book they give truck drivers?
They enlisted the Teamsters’ help after the company decided that it would no longer pay them hourly wages but compensate them based on mileage, which would have cut their income in half

Answer:
So then am I to assume that unless the company is hauling HAZMAT, the drivers don't need to be informed?
But then giving it further thought, wouldn't fuel spillage fall under this?
I know in the factories, employee is trained upon hire and every two years. Simple testing is done.
But for employees who take positions where they deal in various chemicals, cleaners and such agents, the training and testing is more in depth.

Answer:
I just got my CDL learning premit in Fl, with hazmat endorsement. Called Al where I hope to move to when I get full license and asked about getting CDL there after getting license in Fl. They said all I had to do was pay some fees to get new Al license, except would have to take Al hazmat test. Since I am inexperienced with licensing, is their a road component to hazmat CDL test or is it the same written test I just passed? thanks.

It will be a written test only. Also any time you renew your liscense you will be taking the haz mat written test if you wish to have this endorsement on your CDL.

You are basically correct. If a company
NEVER hauls haz mat then there is no need for the training. While fuel in large quantites is considered haz mat, vehicles generally do not carry enough to fall into this, and unless there is an accident fuel spillage normally amounts to very small quantities.
Here is an interesting point however. Many, if not all, states and/or municipalites require the person who is dispensing fuel to remain with the vehicle and monitor the fueling process and to act appropriately in case there is a fuel spill, fire, etc. If there is a problem and the person who was fueling the vehicle was absent (ie inside using the restroom, getting a drink, etc.) then that person can and often times will be responsible for all clean up costs and any fines levied, and also the cost of the spilled fuel.

uturn2002 - You are so correct here.
I manage a C-Store and there have been a few times when the fuel will come splashing out or the nozzle will fly out and the customer will try to lay blame on the store.
You pump at your own risk! At any given time the nozzle can break without warning. And there are plenty of notices on those pumps that tell people of the risks.
Off the topic - sorry
