Odometer Pay.......
Question:
Pro's and Con's......... OT "Just a lonely sailor on a concrete sea...""And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." Abraham Lincoln Answer: Would be that you would be getting paid for every mile driven. The only downside I can see is that the company could be very strict about out of route miles and you could find yourself fired in a heartbeat. It might not be too bad if the company was also providing routing. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Answer: That's how I get paid. Off the odometer. I can choose the route I want (route is normally not questioned unless it sounds outragous). They do frown on going through New Mexico and Arizona unless I (or one of our drivers) have a drop there. That's why I'll roll through WY, UT, AZ & NV going to Los Angeles. Besides, it's about 75 miles shorter this way. They frown on KY (property tax) also, because we don't normally go trough KY, we have to buy a temporary permit (10 day, I think), each time we have a truck roll through the state. Otherwise, getting paid off the odometer is the best I've found so far. ******************************* "I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane!" (from Waylon Jennings) "The feel of the wheel delivers me, from a life where I don't wanna be." (from Joe Stampley) Answer: I don't know it they still do it,but when I worked for a small carrier called Roadscholar Transport out of Dunmore PA (Scranton area),I was paid off the odometer. Yes.....they kept a close eye on claimed miles. This was good because they moved a lot of hazmat. If you had to go a longer route to avoid a tunnal or whatever, you automatically got paid the proper miles so long as your paperwork was in order.
