Personally, with many years of running the roads, I feal that an extremely high percentage of drivers are not capable of defining "politically correct"!
Plus, I can asssure you that which ever term would be used, it would be considered far from any term of endearment.
However, since your post is titled as "terms of endearment", this brings something to mind that really bothers me and sometimes embareasses me to the point that I'm ashamed to be associated with drivers.
Have you ever been driving and hear a woman driver key up and say something and then all of a sudden you hear dozens of drivers react to a female voice?
Or, a female talk to a stranger on the radio and he responds to her as baby-doll, or hunny, or sweetie, etc.?
Or, maybe while sitting at a truck stop you may hear a woman key the mike and then all of a sudden drivers start acting like a bunch of dogs?
I know a few woman drivers that refuse to talk on the radio simply because they don't want to hear all the houling.
These kinds of actions sometimes makes me ashamed to be a driver.
The sad thing is, the sterio-typing people out there have painted ALL drivers with a very ugly color and the bad thing is it isn't all drivers that conduct themselves in that manor.
Now I'm no angle but most of the time I will respnd to a fellow (male) driver by calling him sir or driver and I always respond to a female driver by calling her ma'am or driver.
My point is, (most) woman appreciate being treated no different as men. After all they are out here doing the same job men are and I may add that I've seen many woman conduct themselves in a far more professional manor than a lot of men.
I think that if guys cannot suppress their mouths when they hear a female voice, maybe they should at least try to save their cute remarks to a female that will appreciate such as a lizard.
*disclaimer-this is my opinion only and is not intended to start any flaming of any kind.

"Commodities Relocation Engineer"
which I have just become as of yesterday. Passed my road test and am sitting here with CDL in hand!I think hubby was more excited than me. I go for my drug screen on Monday and fill out my app and will be on the road a few days later. Can't wait! Been off work since Oct. 2002 and getting bored. Catch you on the flip-flop!

I think guitarnut missed an important fact. Most of the females that key up do it intentionally and invoke the trash talk. Meaning their no different than the males that respond. Some of the nastiest talking people on the cb are female.
It would be nice if truckers in general had a clue what professional means.

Answer:
Stuffiu, I don't intend on sitting hear and arguing.
Just wanted to say that my point is, there are many more woman out there (drivers/riders) than a lot of folks realize.
They prefer to remain silent on the radio because they know if they key up the guys out there will automatically think that a female voice on the radio means sex.
That's it for me with this subject.
