A bet about 50% are. They're running most solo OTR in smaller regions now (incl 48-state) with shorter trips. Trailers are passed from one driver or drop yard, to another (drop and hook), or dropped at customers to unload at their convenience. We just pick-up an empty and take off.
Not all the loads and customers, but more all the time -- where Werner seems to be going right now. The company has three trailers for every power unit We've put our own yard dogs on some larger accounts to do all the door assignment backing (etc) so the drivers can grab an empty and go.
But he'll still get his fair share of delays (detention) at some customers. It's a mixed bag.
