learn to say NO
he should not be going over 70 period,a wreck will mean jail if somebody gets killed.
Tell him to call the safety dept and if they don't lower the boom on the dispatcher, find another company.
They enlisted the Teamsters’ help after the company decided that it would no longer pay them hourly wages but compensate them based on mileage, which would have cut their income in half

Answer:
From her past posts it sounds like this is a real small company. The owners wife is the dispatcher and the oldest kid is probably the safety department.
From the sound of things all this gals hubby needs to do is run one more load straight back to the yard and turn the truck in.
Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe.

Answer:
By the way JQP
I forgot to thank you for for the well laid out explaination of the 70 hour rule.
About 4 people have tried to explain this to me and I just couldn't get it.
I got it!!!

Answer:
What he said. Very good explanation.
From the sound of that company -- and the fact that it's small -- sounds like they're used to drivers who are more than willing to log creatively so they can make more money. Mom and pop companies are popular with drivers who don't want a huge safety department telling them what they can and can't do. If that's not what you want, I'd get out of there.
Or.....learn how to run a second book and replace pages and makes trips disappear.... Russian Roulette with your life and freedom, in my opinion, but some guys got away with it their whole career. Times are changing, and those are the drivers the government and courts want sent to OZ. It's a lot harder to be an outlaw today than it was a decade or two ago, it would seem.
