how long after school
Question:
i know this has been asked before but can't find it in the archives. how long after trucking school do you have before you need to hire on with a company? thanks, gatorhawk

Answer:
While there may or may not be any official ruling on the time interval, one thing's pretty certain. If all the experience you have behind the wheel comes from the hands-on portion of your cdl training, you'll find that you will lose a bit of the 'comfort level' you achieved sitting next to an instructor. But as long as you have the credentials (i.e., the license...), companies will know you'll need some training. It's more a question of your preparedness after being away from something for which you were just recently trained.

Answer:
Wouldn't go past ninety days. You should have a pretty good idea who you want to work for by the time you start school. BOL

Answer:
but at that point you may have troouble hiring on with a carrier. by all rights you should hire on with your first carrier within 30-45 days after school. Of course 1-2 weeks is more ideal.
Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe.
Answer:
is 100% correct.. Alot of companies will not hire a driver that has been out of school for more than 90 days and if you have been out longer than that they may require a refresher course.
With that said: At the same time alot of schools will let you take a refresher course for next to nothing if any thing at all
